Jake
I woke up earlier than usual, my mind still heavy with thoughts of Laura. Despite everything going on, I couldn't shake the feeling that I needed to see her before I left. The night before had been a flurry of activity with Anna, and a great distraction from my Laura. But now that I had a moment of stillness, all I could think about was Laura's voice on the phone, how hesitant but hopeful it had sounded.
"This can't wait," I muttered to myself as I swung my legs over the side of the bed.
I got dressed quickly, jeans, a crisp white shirt, and a leather jacket, something casual but presentable. As I grabbed my keys, I glanced at my packed bag sitting by the door, ready for Anna to bring it to the airport. I hesitated for a moment. The flight was in less than two hours. Was this really a good idea?
But my feet were already moving.
"I need to see her," I whispered, locking the door behind me.
