Jake
As soon as I slid into the back seat of the car, the door slammed shut behind me, and the driver took off. The soft hum of the engine and the faint sound of the tires on the pavement did nothing to calm the storm brewing inside me. I clenched my fists on my lap, my jaw tight, as I replayed the disaster of a meeting I'd just had with Chloe.
Anna was sitting to my right, her usual composed demeanor slightly marred by the furrow in her brow. Across from us sat Emily, head of the PR team, and his assistant, Michael. Those two are the best PR strategists I'd ever worked with. They have never disappointed and I believe they would help clean up this mess. Normally, they looked confident, even smug. Today, they looked as defeated as I felt.
"Well, that went to hell," I muttered, breaking the silence.
Anna glanced at me, her lips pressing into a thin line. "Sir, I know how it looks like but you need to calm down. We'll figure it out." She let out.
