Chapter 39 - duo mission(3)

Djinn 1: "So, you can already use Flame Transformation, huh? What a strong child."

Dakota: "Thank you, I guess? But why don't we skip the compliments and begin?"

Djinn 2: "Yeah, let's not waste any more time. Let's start!"

The two Djinns moved simultaneously, attacking Dakota from opposite directions. One came at him from the left while the other charged from the right. Dakota, quick on his feet, leaped into the air, narrowly dodging both attacks. Mid-air, his fists ignited as he cast Flame Fist. With a surge of fiery power, the flames shot out from his fists, striking both Djinns and sending them stumbling back.

Djinn 1: "Damn it, this burns!"

Djinn 2: "How the hell did he dodge that so easily?"

Dakota: "You two are really slow."

The Djinns, still lying on the ground and grimacing in pain, glared at Dakota with fury. Their once-casual expressions were now twisted with rage and bloodlust.

Dakota smirked. "Did I make you mad? Oh, I'm so sorry—but not really."

The Djinns, further enraged by his taunts, roared in unison and launched their next attack: Flame Bomb. This time, the explosive burst of fire struck Dakota head-on. However, he quickly activated his magical shield, absorbing most of the damage.

Dakota: "Phew, that was a close one."

Without wasting a moment, Dakota cast Flame Boost, enhancing his speed and strength. He shot forward, aiming for the Djinns. But they were faster this time, matching his enhanced speed and dodging his attacks. Djinn 1 moved behind Dakota while Djinn 2 appeared in front, trapping him in a pincer attack.

Dakota: "Oh, crap."

His mind raced as he tried to think of a way out of the predicament. Time seemed to slow as both Djinns closed in. Desperate, he crouched low, attempting to duck beneath their strikes—but Djinn 1 had anticipated the move and attacked downward.

Dakota winced. "Damn it! He read my move. I need to act fast!"

Thinking quickly, Dakota cast Flame Eruption, causing the ground beneath him to burst into flames. The sudden eruption knocked both Djinns off their feet, sending them sprawling backward. Dakota used the opportunity to leap into the air, distancing himself.

Dakota: "Okay, I managed to survive that one… but this fight is far from over."

The Djinns quickly recovered, their bodies smoldering but still full of energy. They charged at Dakota again, but this time, he increased his speed even further, catching them off guard. Seizing the advantage, he slashed at them with fiery precision, severing one arm from each of the Djinns.

Dakota: "Yes! I managed to cut off their arms. This should make things easier."

However, instead of being disheartened, the Djinns burst into laughter, their maniacal cackling echoing through the battlefield.

Djinn 2: "Hahaha! I haven't had this much fun in ages!"

Djinn 1: "You really are something else, human. What a fight!"

Dakota frowned. "What the hell? Have you two gone insane?"

Djinn 1: "Insane? We've been insane since the day we became Djinns!"

Djinn 2: "It's been so long since we've had a battle this exciting. You're giving us exactly what we've been craving!"

Suddenly, the other two Djinns battling Henry began laughing as well, their maniacal voices blending with those of the first two.

Djinn 1: "Looks like our brothers are enjoying themselves too."

Djinn 2: "I'm glad we finally found worthy opponents!"

Dakota shook his head in disbelief. "You four are completely deranged. But you're not the craziest beings I've ever met—or created."

Djinn 1 raised an eyebrow. "Created? What are you talking about, human?"

The laughter abruptly ceased when Dakota uttered a single name.

Dakota: "Blazer."

At the mention of the name, all four Djinns froze, their expressions twisting into a mix of fear and disbelief.

Djinn 1: "Ho-how dare you, a mere human, speak our lord's name!?"

Djinn 2: "You're nothing but an insect compared to him. You deserve to be torn apart for this blasphemy!"

Dakota stood firm, his eyes blazing with determination. "I may be a mere human now, but one day, I'll be the one to kill Blazer—that damned transcendent."

The Djinns stared at him in stunned silence before bursting into mocking laughter.

Djinn 1: "You? Kill our lord? Hahaha!"

Djinn 2: "That's the funniest thing I've ever heard!"

Djinn 3: "What a joke!"

Djinn 4: "You're even funnier than this guy!"

Djinn 1: "Before you even dream of defeating Lord Blazer, you'll have to survive us first."

Dakota smirked. "Oh, I know. But I've known from the start that I can kill you."

Djinn 2: "Hah! You really think you can kill us?!"

Dakota: "I don't just think—I know."

Both sides prepared for their final clash. Dakota charged forward at full speed, flames surging around him, while the Djinns retaliated with their fiery strength. Their fists collided in a fiery explosion, the force shaking the ground.

When the smoke cleared, all three fighters were battered and bloodied, their clothes torn to shreds. Dakota struggled to stay upright, his breathing labored.

Dakota: "Damn it… I'm still not used to this kind of pain. And I don't think I ever will be."

Djinn 1: "You're not looking so good, human."

Djinn 2: "But neither are we. Looks like we're all running on fumes."

Dakota nodded. "Yeah, we're all running out of mana. Let's finish this."

The Djinns smirked, their remaining strength gathering into their final attack: Flame Bomb. Dakota responded with his own: Fireball. The two spells collided mid-air, creating a massive explosion that engulfed the battlefield.

When the dust settled, the Djinns staggered to their feet, their bodies trembling.

Djinn 1: "Do you think he survived that?"

Djinn 2: "If we're still alive, then he probably is too."

As they scanned the battlefield, a voice spoke from behind them.

Dakota: "Too late."

The Djinns turned, their faces pale with fear. Dakota raised his hand.

Dakota: "Explosion."

The powerful spell engulfed the Djinns, their bodies disintegrating in the fiery blast. When the flames died down, only Dakota remained, panting heavily.

Dakota: "See? I told you from the start—I was going to win."
