Did Logan really just walk out like that?
The three couldn't believe that the usually easygoing Logan had become so cold-hearted.
By the time they realized what had happened, Logan was already gone.
"Logan, wait up!"
Fiona tried to follow Logan out, but the waiter blocked her path.
"Why are you stopping me? That's my boyfriend!" Fiona snapped, glaring at the waiter with hostility.
The waiter sneered. "Then you can call your boyfriend and ask him to pay your share as well."
Fiona's chest heaved with anger, but she didn't dare to challenge the tough-looking waiter. She turned and shot Zach a venomous glare.
"What are you standing there for? Pay the bill!"
"I... I don't have that much money..." Zach muttered, humiliated in front of the girl he liked. His resentment toward Logan deepened.
With less than a year of work under his belt, Zach's savings hadn't even reached four digits. There was no way he could cover the $38000 bill.
Logan had been spot-on; seeing Logan spend tens of thousands in minutes yesterday had turned Zach into a sour grape. He had planned to bleed Logan dry today.
Zach was confident that Logan would pay, knowing he couldn't bear to lose his only "friends." Even if it hurt, Logan would have relented.
That's how it always had been—why had Logan suddenly changed?
Refusing to believe it, Zach called Logan.
But Logan, feeling refreshed after walking out of the club, hung up on Zach and immediately blocked all their numbers before heading home.
Zach called again, but this time, the line was dead. That's when he finally realized that Logan wasn't coming back to bail them out.
Facing the scowling waiter and the security guards eyeing them from outside, Zach whispered, "Let's split the bill evenly..."
Henry and Fiona immediately refused. One had only just started working, and the other was still a student—they didn't have that kind of money.
It had been Zach's idea to come to the club, Zach who had offered to treat, and Zach who had hired the hostesses.
The three of them started arguing until the club called the police, forcing them to ask their families for money to settle the bill.
Because Zach had ordered the most expensive drinks in an attempt to stick it to Logan, he ended up owing $18,000.
Henry, who had also drunk quite a bit, had to pay $13,000.
Fiona, furious and unwilling, ended up paying $7,000.
The trio left Normande Club in a foul mood, their friendship in shambles.
Henry and Zach had a huge fight, blaming each other for the disaster, nearly ending their friendship.
Fiona didn't bother hiding her disdain for Zach and blocked him as soon as she got home.
What had been intended as a simple gathering ended with Zach losing not only his best friends but also the girl he liked.
Zach's hatred for Logan burned even brighter.
But when Zach returned home, instead of finding comfort, he was met with a furious Mr. Zach, who slapped him and scolded him harshly.
"You fool! We were planning to ask Logan for a loan to buy a house, and you go and pull a stunt like this? Apologize to him immediately!"
Mr. Zach assumed that Zach had been too obvious in his attempt to rip Logan off, which had angered him.
Logan knew nothing of this, and even if he had, he wouldn't have cared.
The next day, Logan rose early as usual, completed his workout, and had breakfast before receiving a call from a real estate agent.
The agent, a young woman named Emily Chen, spoke energetically.
"Mr. Logan, I have a client interested in viewing your apartment. When would be a good time for you?"
Already? Logan was a little surprised.
"I'm available now. You can bring them over whenever."
Ten minutes later, the doorbell rang.
Logan opened the door to see a middle-aged man in a jacket following the attractive and lively Emily Chen into the apartment.
Emily began expertly highlighting the apartment's features.
Logan stepped aside, letting the professional do her job. He only needed to wait.
After the viewing, the middle-aged man cheerfully agreed to buy the apartment in full.
Emily had negotiated a price of 9.45 million.
Logan was a bit taken aback; the sale had gone even faster than he'd anticipated.
As the two left, Logan noticed the man's hand lingering inappropriately on Emily's back, and he suddenly understood why the deal had gone through so quickly.
Shortly after, Emily returned.
"Mr. Logan, I've arranged for us to complete the transfer paperwork tomorrow. Please have everything ready by then."
Eager to close the deal as quickly as possible, Emily had pulled out all the stops.
"Understood," Logan replied, impressed by the woman's methods, but ultimately satisfied with the result.
The sooner the apartment was sold, the sooner he could move on to the next step.
Emily then went over the details of the paperwork.
As she spoke, she subtly moved closer to Logan.
Logan took a few steps back, his cold gaze sweeping over Emily.
At twenty-five or twenty-six, Emily was in her prime, with a good figure.
But Logan had no interest in women who would go to any lengths to achieve their goals.
Emily felt a chill in her heart under Logan's cold stare. She had never seen such a frosty expression on someone so young.
But thinking of the huge commission at stake, Emily forced herself to smile sweetly.
"Mr. Logan, about the commission—anything above 9 million is mine, right?"
"I keep my word. Once the deal is done, I'll transfer your share. But I have to go out shortly, so I won't keep you any longer, Miss Chen."
If she could pocket $450,000 in one deal, she deserved it. Logan wasn't going to renege on his promise.
With that money, he could begin the next phase of his plan.
Relieved, Emily left with a smile.
Logan also prepared to leave, as he had an appointment to sign the warehouse lease contract.
Logan was satisfied after inspecting the warehouse. Before renting, he had made several specific requests.
It had to be in a secluded area with good security, and it needed to be well-shielded from prying eyes.
The agent had done a good job meeting his requirements and had even checked the warehouse personally before showing it to him.
The contract signing went smoothly.
Once the apartment sale was finalized tomorrow, Logan could move into the warehouse.
As he was leaving, Logan called the agent aside.
The agent, a man nearing thirty named David Lin, seemed diligent and composed.
With less than three months until the apocalypse, Logan needed to gather massive amounts of supplies and upgrade the cornucopia, a process that would take time.
Building a shelter would also be time-consuming and labor-intensive, and Logan needed help.
"Mr. Lin, would you be interested in working for me? I can offer you a salary of $500,000 a year," Logan proposed.
David Lin was stunned—$500,000 a year?! That was $200,000 to $300,000 more than his current earnings as a real estate agent!
But he was also suspicious, wondering if Logan was joking.
Cautiously, he asked, "What would you need me to do?"
If that's totally legal, there's no reason to reject.
