"What did we talk about, uh? Seriously, if I didn't know it would break your heart, Eyana, I would open a portal to hell and murder the monsters you call parents because of all they did to you, darling. That is my genuine desire, to kill them and give the crown to your brother, he will be a better Emperor than your father ever could, and your sister will be his Empress and also better than you mom. That is, if they don't go there and kill them together to be able to reign together," he mocked and she gasped.
"My brother wouldn't have the guts to do that, Mar, he's softer."
"Sure, but your sister ain't," he mocked. "I remember that much when they came with you to attend Von Hyden Academy. She was a nasty one, and he was totally in love with her, which is rather disgusting, but whatever."
She giggled, "Oh, come on, it's an ancient demon tradition."
"Doesn't make it less disgusting. I wouldn't let our daughter marry our son."
"Absolutely not," she cringed. "She will marry her mate, and her mate only. By the whispers of the artifact that I was haunted by before we did the potion to save me and Asterin-Maela, I know that foxes can only have children with their mates, so, our daughter, as part fox, will only be able to have heirs with her mate," and she chuckled when she saw the annoyed scowl on him.
"I don't want to think about that. She's just seven months old, darling. I don't want to even imagine when she starts to have crushes or when she finds her mate. Ugh, you know how I am, I will probably make the little bastard pass through the worse trails of his life to make sure he's worthy of our little girl. And I will also, very, very, very probably, get physical in the first moment."
She barked a laugh, "She's gonna kick your ass if you beat her mate, love."
Then the baby in the cradle sat down, looking at me, and holding onto the bars of the cradle, she stood up, and when she did, I saw little midnight purple with star dust freckles membrane dragon wings peaking at the top of her back, and my jaw dropped, then, to my shock, she tried to reach out to me, to touch my hair, but her small arm couldn't. When the couple saw that, they stood up and walked to her, and seeing them from up closer made more tears overflow from my eyes like a waterfall.
"You think she's seeing something again?" He asked her.
"Nine-tailed foxes are as sensitive to the spiritual realm that lies within ours as witches. So, I think so, yeah. When I was pregnant of her, I felt extremely sensitive to it, like I had never before, but now I think that was her, her energy want to absorb more, but from the realm that lies in the veil between life and death. But I'm scared of one thing about this... about this fox nature of her," she swallowed, looking worried at the baby and then at her mate.
"What are you scared of?" He asked, anxiously.
"That it'll want it's full power back, that she'll crave the reinstitution of what was stolen from her... kind... the other fragments. There were said to be a total of twenty, all that was left from the nine-tailed foxes in all realms, deep within the Tartarus. I fear that she will crave to go to Tartarus, to wander there, after the fragments that will miss in her, even without knowing what she's looking for. That she will... end up encountering the monsters I did in there."
"Let's worry about that when she grows old enough to cause trouble."
She scoffed, "She will be start causing trouble by 9 months old, I can feel it."
"Oh, no, don't say that. That's in two months, she's still a angel."
A laugh left her, "Way to go, calling a ⅔ demon, an angel."
He growled, "Keep annoying me like that, and she'll get a sibling, Eyana."
Her face nearly camouflaged with her hair, "Mar-Nevek!" She cried.
"Or did you forget how she,"
"She can hear us," she cried.
Grinning, he wrapped his arms around her waist, "Nah, she's can't."
"Mar,"
Before she could say anything else, a loud explosion sound came from the outside and soon came the screams, the draconic growls, wolves howls, and the pungent scent of magic and blood, and they both steeled, going stone cold.
"Those motherfucking sons of a bitch," he hissed.
"We can't let them get to Asterin-Maela," she cried, panicking, picking her up.
"I'm going to kill them all," he howled, eyes turning into permanent slits.
"Go," she told him. "I'll take her to the bunker."
"Please, stay with her, stay safe, darling," he kissed her one more time.
She kissed him back, "You too, please, be safe. I can't loose you."
"You won't, never," then he turned to his daughter. "Protect your mama, my beautiful Princess. You are our treasure. But don't be scared, papa will fight the rebels and keep you and mama safe," when he kissed her forehead, she raised her arms to go to his, and he cried. "Papa can't take you now, baby."
But she kept her hands up, asking for his hug, and when he finally took her in his arm, she hugged his neck and a dark cherry red was tattooed around his neck like star dust, and they both gasped. Then the baby turned to her mom and when she held her, it did the same to her.
"Protection magic...?" His eyes widened. "How can she do this?"
His mate swallowed, "I don't know. Maybe it was the fox dormant in her."
"Are you protecting papa, baby?" He cried proudly and she just smiled, then he pinched her chubby cheeks softly, "My little prodigy, you are amazing."
She giggled cutely and they both smiled one last time, "Be safe, my love."
"I will, darling."
When they kissed, the baby looked at me, and everything changed.
I was taken to a dark closed place, it took me a second to know it was the bunker that the Queen had been talking about.
