Chapter 6 - Purpose!

"YAWN!"

Vision awoke to the soft glow of morning light filtering through the floor-to-ceiling windows of his grand bedroom, yawning as he opened his eyes.

The sheets of his bed, impossibly soft and warm, were a comforting contrast to the cool air that filled the room. As he lay there, staring up at the intricately carved ceiling, his mind buzzed with thoughts of the day ahead.

Last night as he went to sleep, he was left with a decision.

Astral Project? Or Not?

If he decided to Astral Project, he could potentially train his powers whilst he slept, already beginning to improve himself. It was an overpowered training method no doubt, which could potentially allow for round-the-clock training.

However, in the end, he decided to sleep. Not because he didn't want to train, far from it, Vision was eager to train himself, improve his power and control until he was a master.

But after all he experienced, dying, meeting the messenger, reincarnating, meeting the Justice League and arriving here with Diana, Vision figured he needed a good night of sleep, at least one night before he braved the new world.

This was a new life, a new beginning, and with it came new responsibilities. He needed a good rest before he faced the big question.

What was his purpose in this world?

He had no memories of a past life, no history to draw from, only his subconscious will, the overwhelming power he possessed and the guidance of the Justice League.

His thoughts turned to the concept of a "Day Job." After browsing through all the internet yesterday and talking with Diana, Vision learned that most of the Superheroes had hidden or secret identities, with day jobs outside of their Superhero work.

Diana is Themyscira's ambassador for the World Council, Batman is Bruce Wayne, owner of Wayne Enterprise and billionaire, playboy, socialite, The Flash is Barry Allen, Forensic Analyst.

All of these people lived normal-ish lives outside of their Superhero persona, living peacefully. One of them, Barry Allen, even had a wife, Iris-West-Allen.

With all these things presented to him, Vision had his own thought, he might be a hero in the future, using his power for the greater good to save lives and protect life.

But what about the other side of life? The side that required him to blend in with humanity, to live among them, understand them? He needed a way to connect with the world, to ground himself in reality.

After sweeping the internet, Vision had exceptional knowledge about any possible topic, Languages, Science, Math, Business, Art, Criminology, he knew it all to a higher level than basically anyone.

However, that knowledge, while valuable, needed experience to truly harness its full potential. He had the knowledge, but not the fully built in muscle memory, he needed to train and learn in order for it to become second nature.

But what would he use that knowledge to become? A teacher? A researcher? A writer? Or perhaps something more hands-on, Lawyer, Detective?

Vision contemplated these questions as he rose from the bed, the cool wooden floor grounding him as he walked to the window. The view was breathtaking, a sprawling landscape of lush gardens, rolling hills, and the distant silhouette of the city beyond.

Vision quickly activated the power of the Mind-Gem, a golden glow enveloping his body as he was suddenly dressed, wearing a comfortable and basic jeans + t-shirt combination.

If there was anything he had to admit, the ability to magically create any clothes he needed using his power was incredible, and would definitely save him on money in the future.

Fully dressed, Vision left his room and made his way down the winding corridors of the villa. The halls were quiet, the only sound the distant hum of the estate coming to life with the dawn.

As he descended the grand staircase, the scent of breakfast wafted up to greet him. It was a comforting smell, warm and inviting, and it pulled him from his thoughts as he entered the dining room.

Diana was already there, seated at the large wooden table, a spread of food laid out before her. She looked up as Vision entered, a smile tugging at her lips. "Good morning, Vision," she greeted him, her voice as warm as the morning sun. "Did you sleep well?"

Vision nodded, taking a seat across from her and responding, "I did, thank you."

Diana nodded, her gaze thoughtful as she took a sip of tea and dug into the food, some scrambled eggs with baked bread and tea.

"I've been considering what kind of life I should lead outside of being a superhero," Vision continued, his tone reflective, "What kind of day job I should have, how I can connect with people and contribute to society. I don't just want to be a weapon or a tool. I want to be… more."

Diana set down her cup, her eyes locking onto his with a seriousness that spoke of her own experiences. "That's smart. Day jobs help provide balance. No-one can handle work 100% of the time, unless they are a robot, which I trust you are not."

Vision nodded, "I'm not sure what that job would be yet. There's a-lot of options after all."

Diana smiled gently, "You have time to figure that out. There's no rush. And whatever you choose, it should be something you enjoy, not the Super-You, but regular you, something that feels right in your heart. "

Vision nodded and listened to her words, the conversation slowly shifting to lighter topics.

As they continued their breakfast, the conversation shifted to lighter topics, about what Vision learned on the internet the previous night. Music taste, favorite movies, that sort of stuff.

Time ticked by quickly and breakfast soon came to a close, the soft clinking of dishes against the table echoed throughout the room.

Vision finished the last bite of his meal, feeling satisfied, both from the food and from the conversation he had just shared with Diana, but more from the food. Don't hate him, but it was his first meal since death and reincarnation, so he had a right to enjoy it.

You Know?

Diana, too, had finished her meal and was casually sipping her tea, her eyes scanning the view beyond the large windows. The sun was now higher in the sky, casting golden light across the room and filling it with a warmth that mirrored Diana's presence.

She set her cup down gently and looked at Vision with a small smile playing at the corners of her mouth, "Vision," she said, her voice calm but carrying a note of anticipation, "I want you to get ready. We're going on a trip."

Vision straightened slightly, curiosity piqued, "A trip? Where to?" he asked, intrigued by the sudden turn in conversation.

Diana's smile widened, and there was a glimmer of excitement in her eyes, a spark that made her look even more radiant. She paused for just a moment, building the anticipation before finally speaking.

"My home," she said, her voice soft but filled with pride. "Themyscira."

Vision blinked, momentarily stunned. Themyscira, the legendary island of the Amazons? The place was more myth than reality to most of the world, a hidden paradise shielded from the eyes of mortals.

Recently, it had revealed more of itself to the world, with Diana becoming Themyscira's ambassador to the World Council, but it was still rather mysterious.

"Themyscira?" he repeated, his mind racing as he processed the idea. "I thought it was… hidden, inaccessible to outsiders."

Diana's smile turned warm, almost maternal, "It is, for the most part. But you're not just anyone, Vision. You're special, and I believe that they'd definitely like to meet you. Plus, it'll be helpful for your training."

"When do we leave?" Vision asked, a trace of eagerness slipping into his voice.

Diana chuckled lightly, standing up from the table and pushing her chair in. "Soon. Themyscira is a place that tends to provide exactly what you need when you arrive, so you don't need to bring anything. "

Vision rose from his chair as well, excitement bubbling inside him. "I'll be ready," he said with determination.

Diana placed a gentle hand on his shoulder as she passed by him, her expression soft but focused, "Good. Meet me in the courtyard in one hour. This trip will be important for you, Vision, in more ways than one."

Vision watched her as she walked out of the dining room, leaving him alone to think about the situation.

Themyscira, a place of legends, of power, of history. He couldn't wait to see what awaited him on the island of the Amazons.
