Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Giving Birth to a Child

Jane put down the cat teaser stick and got up to go out.

Rochester stood in the living room, raised his wrist and glanced at his watch. He caught a glimpse of her and lifted his eyelids, saying, "What have you been eating to regulate your body lately? The rack is so well maintained.

Do I have to come back in person to invite you?"

Jane said, "You don't have to come back."

Rochester didn't seem to take her sarcasm seriously. Seeing the cat hair sticking to her clothes, he frowned and handed her a flat box. "Twenty minutes left, go upstairs and change clothes."

Jane didn't answer. She turned on the faucet and slowly rinsed her hands in the water, saying, "I said I won't go."

Rochester was quite patient with her today and asked, "Do you want me to help you exchange it."

Jane bit her teeth and turned to look at him, "Is it still necessary for us to attend this kind of occasion together? Who should we act for?"

Rochester's eyes also turned cold and he said, "Do you think I'm playing some kind of romantic drama with you?"

Jane wanted to say, didn't she? Rochester lightly tugged at the corner of his lips, not without sarcasm.

"You're overthinking it, I don't have that spare time."

"No matter how unwilling you are in your heart, your current identity is still my wife Rochester. The basic etiquette for socializing is interpersonal communication. "He threw the dress onto the sofa and said," Do your part."

That's right, it's true that she's being overly sentimental. He didn't have the leisure to accompany her as a loving couple.

He specifically wanted to take her there, but because she was the second wife of the Z family, not going would cause the Z family to lose respect and face.

Jane picked up his clothes and went upstairs.

On the bus bound for the S family, she turned her face out of the window the whole time and didn't say a word to Rochester.

On the way, Rochester's gaze came from the side.

The dress was chosen by him, with a clear and light blue blend on a smooth and delicate white satin. The satin surface was smooth and delicate, elegant yet graceful.

The skirt tightened around the waist and abdomen, with several shallow folds spreading downwards, creating a hazy and fresh beauty that perfectly matched Jane's fairy like temperament.

Rochester's gaze slowly walked over her.

"Is the size of the skirt a bit too big?"

Jane curled her hand on her knee.

The skirt was a bit loose, but who's size did he mistake?

Jane turned the back of his head towards him and ignored him.

"You've been losing your temper for the past two years, haven't you? You've been giving me face every day, "Rochester said, but he didn't seem angry and his tone was casual." Who did you learn from?"

Jane turned around and asked, "What kind of face did I give you?

Did she dare to give him a face?

Besides, there were three days out of three hundred and sixty days in a year where he can't see anyone. How could she give him a face.

Jane had always been a person who didn't get angry since childhood, and when she got angry, she only lifted her delicate eyebrows and stared at people.

She might already feel very angry herself, but in the eyes of others, she was like a kitten glaring at people, still the least intimidating kind.

Just like now.

Rochester chuckled, not knowing where the leisure came from, teasing her: "With a pretty face, is that okay?"

Jane turned her head back and didn't want to talk to him.

Despite the awkwardness, she got off the car and consciously put her hand into Rochester's arm, smiling naturally and skillfully, like a well-trained actress. Mr. S was already over eighty years old and had just welcomed his great grandson. His face was full of red light and his spirit was lively.

Rochester led Jane over to greet him, and the old man said, "When we lost wine in our cellar, I knew it was you who came back."

Rochester said, "Don't accuse me wrongly. I won't do anything like stealing chickens and dogs."

"You're not going to do it, you let that stinky kid Jack do it."

"Grandpa, at least I'm also your grandson. Don't you feel embarrassed to say it?"

The old man glared at him and said, "You know you're embarrassing."

Jack pursed his lips and said, "Then I'm not a fool."

The old man was too lazy to pay attention to him.

The two families had a deep bond, and Rochester grew up watching him from a young age, like half a grandson. Long time no see, he patted Rochester's shoulder and said," Finally willing to come back?"

Rochester smiled generously and said, "I dream every day that you miss me. Why don't I come back quickly to show you and relieve the pain of longing?"

The old man burst into laughter and swung his crutch to threaten to beat him. In fact, he just scratched Rochester's leg and said, "You bastard! Dare to make fun of your grandfather."

Jane stood quietly on the side and didn't say anything except to greet Grandpa S when he came over.

The old man loved the house and the wood, and turned to talk to her kindly, "It's been a while since I last saw Jane. She's getting more and more beautiful."

Jane smiled obediently.

Perhaps because the family had just added children, the old man's thoughts were all focused on this: "You've been married to Rochester for almost three years, right? When are you planning to have a baby?"

Jane's smile froze.

People around them actually know that their marital relationship was not very good. Couples who had been living apart for years, where can they have children.

The atmosphere slightly froze, and Jane vaguely tried to deal with it: "I haven't considered this matter yet."

The old man was not satisfied with this answer: "Then consider it now! You two have such good genes, don't you think having a child is worth it to me?"

Jane:"…"

This didn't seem to have anything to do with you, old man.

Jack clicked and said, "Hey, my Aunt Z isn't in a hurry. Why are you in a hurry here? What's up with you?"

"Who said Aunt Z is not in a hurry? She can watch the child there for half a day without being in a hurry, and she can't put it down. She just needs to take it home."

A group of people followed the old man's cane and saw that not far away, Aunt Z was indeed holding the newly born great grandson of the S family, smiling kindly on her face.

The old man said again, " Jane, you're making your mother crave it. Hurry up and give her some fun too."

Jane really didn't know how to answer it. His pleading gaze turned to Rochester, who stood there with no intention of helping out.

Jane gritted his teeth and said, "Actually, we don't want children. The problem is not with me."

Everyone was stunned, their eyes all focused on Rochester.

Rochester raised his eyebrows and, under the complex and concerned gaze of his elders, slowly answered, "Are you saying that the problem lies with me?"

Jane: "It's not convenient for me to talk about this kind of thing. You can tell Grandpa S yourself."

After finishing speaking, he picked up his skirt and walked away.

The air fell into a profound silence.

Everyone remained silent.

Mr. S remained silent for a long time.

Rochester stared at the graceful departure of Jane's back. She walked out for a while and then turned around to look at him. Her gaze quickly turned back and she walked even faster. Rochester laughed angrily.

Jack felt as if he had been struck by lightning, as if there were problems with Rochester's side, which were even more difficult to accept than his own problems. Staring at Rochester with shocked eyes, he couldn't believe it and said, "Brother, you…"

Rochester raised his hand and closed his chin, which was about to fall to the ground, saying, "Shut up. Don't make me beat you up."
