Charlotte wiped away her tears with the back of her hands, scanning the empty road for a taxi. "Where are all the cabs in this city?" she muttered to herself, frustration etched on her face. She pulled out her phone to order a ride, but before she could even open the app, a sleek black car screeched to a halt in front of her, as if summoned.
"Where to, ma'am?" the driver asked, his voice gruff but polite, as he rolled down the window, eyeing Charlotte's tear-stained face.
Charlotte's gaze dropped, and she peered into the car with a confused look. The luxurious interior didn't resemble any taxi she had ever seen. "Are you a cab driver?" she asked, her tone laced with caution, as she took a step back, her eyes drifting back to Sebastian's gate.
"Yes, ma'am," the driver replied, his smile unwavering. Charlotte let out a deep sigh and slid into the car, eager to escape Sebastian's house. She gave the driver her address, and he nodded, pulling away from the curb.
