The Baron looked at Richard's determined face, as if he was considering something in his mind.

Finally, the baron's face fell, and it seemed that he had made up his mind. He said in a deep voice: "Richard, do you really want to become a wizard?"

"Yes, that's for sure!" Richard looked into his father's eyes and said solemnly.

"Okay, then follow me!" The baron turned around and walked towards the inner castle.

Richard and his brother followed their father to the study. After the baron's father told his brother to close the door, he turned a specific book on the bookshelf at the back.

There was a creaking sound of gears, and the originally integrated bookshelf was slowly separated into two independent bookshelves in the middle, and the wall was slowly exposed. A small steel door on the wall was prominently visible.

The Baron took out an inconspicuous gray key, opened the small door, and waved Richard to come in.

Richard walked into the small door and found a different world inside. The room was not big, only about a dozen square meters, but it was filled with some precious antiques, jewelry and two large boxes of gold dinars that the Clavel family had accumulated over the years.

The Baron's father walked to a small black box and said solemnly, "Richard, let me ask you again, do you really want to pursue the path of a wizard?"

Although Richard didn't know the Baron's intention of bringing him to this secret room he had never been to, he answered his father's question without hesitation: "Of course, father, I will never regret it!"

"Okay, open the box!" The Baron motioned Richard to go forward and open the small black box.

Richard touched the box and found that it was made of some precious wood and was extremely heavy. After opening it, he saw a soft green light that kept flickering emanating from it. When he looked closely, he found that it was actually a diamond-shaped stone.

There are complex lines inside the stone, each of which emits a green glow. Then, all the lines are combined into a complex symbol according to a certain specific trajectory.

The flashing of the symbols gave people a very strange feeling, as if they were alive. If he had to describe it, Richard felt that the rune stone was like a human heart, beating.

"Smash it!" said the Baron in a deep voice.

"Ah?" Richard was immersed in observation. When he heard the Baron's father say to smash the precious things in front of him, he didn't react for a moment.

"You heard it right, smash it!" the baron confirmed again in a deep voice.

Richard looked at the Baron and found that he was not joking. He immediately followed his father's request, raised the precious rune stone in front of him high, and threw it heavily on the ground. With a "click", the rune stone shattered like glass!

But in the next moment, it seemed that the symbol that was originally bound in the rune stone was enlarged dozens of times in an instant, appeared out of thin air one meter above the ground and kept spinning. After a burst of green light, the entire symbol disappeared without a trace in the air.

This even surprised the usually calm Baron father.

After walking out of the secret room, Richard learned the reason from the Baron's father.

It turned out that Richard's grandfather, the previous baron, had rescued a dark wizard decades ago, but Richard's grandfather didn't know which school it was from. The only thing he knew was that the other party was definitely a dark wizard.

The other party left this rune as a token of trust, and told Richard's grandfather that whenever he or his family's descendants needed his help, he should break the rune and he would then sense it.

Even if he cannot come, his disciples will definitely come and meet a reasonable condition of the Clavier family within a hundred years.

If it weren't for the fact that forty years had passed, it was unknown whether there would be children with wizarding talent in the next generation. If it weren't for the fact that Richard happened to be tested to have wizarding talent, and what's more, he had the highest affinity for dark elements, the Baron might not have made this rash decision.

After all, the promise of an official wizard can serve as a family's trump card, and can at least keep the family safe for a hundred years.

Besides, the road of a dark wizard is not easy...

If nothing unexpected happens, someone should arrive at Clavel Castle in the next two days. I just don't know whether it will be the dark wizard himself or his disciple.

The baron who made this decision was scolded by Richard's mother at dinner that day. The usually dignified Baroness lost her temper for the first time, and the old butler and maids were all stunned.

As a mother, she certainly didn't want her beloved child to pursue the dangerous path of a wizard. She would rather her child stay by her side so that she can take good care of him.

"Mother, please don't blame father. This is my own request and decision! Father just fulfilled my wish! I also hope you can understand my determination to pursue my dream!" Richard stood up and comforted his mother.

"Oh, Richard, my child, why are you so much like your father? You never ask for my opinion before making any decision. I am so sad!" The Baroness said while hugging Richard and crying.

This moved Richard but he was speechless for a moment. He could only hug his mother silently and comfort each other.

Richard, who was an orphan in his previous life, had never quite understood a sentence before, but this time he understood it a little.

"A father's love is deeper, as heavy as a mountain and as deep as the sea, but a mother's love is full of care and love!"

Richard returned to his room at night, and before he sat down for a while, he heard a knock on the door.

"Master, I'm Selina. Can I come in?" It turned out that the person outside the door was the maid Selina, but Richard felt that her voice seemed a little hoarse.

After Richard opened the door, he saw a soft and delicate body rushing into his arms, crying and saying, "Master, are you really going to leave? I heard that the servants are talking about it.

I don't want you to leave!"

I see. It seems that what happened at dinner must have spread throughout the castle. After all, people in this era didn't have much to talk about after dinner.

Any trivial matter that happened in the Baron's house was good gossip, not to mention the news that the second young master of the Baron's family was leaving to pursue the path of a wizard.

"This. Selina..." Looking at Selina who was hugging him tightly and crying bitterly, Richard didn't know what to say for a moment.

Of course he knew Selina's feelings for him, but if he chose to accept Selina, it would mean that

in this world, Richard knew that cross-class marriages would not be approved by everyone. For example, most of the nobles sought marriages between nobles.

To put it bluntly, Richard can do whatever he wants to Selina without any scruples, and his father and mother will take it for granted, but when Richard gets married, his marriage partner will definitely be another noble lady, not Selina.

"Selena, the path of pursuing a wizard is full of dangers, and I don't know when I can come back!" Richard gently lifted Selena's beautiful face that was leaning on his shoulder, looked seriously into her red and deep eyes and said.

"Master, can you take me with you?" The sobbing voice moved Richard.

Just as Richard bent down to kiss Selina's beautiful red lips, suddenly, the burly figure of the Baron appeared at the door of his room, scaring Richard and Selina.

The baron just said one sentence to Richard and left: "The one you are waiting for is here!"

As soon as the words fell, the two of them instantly understood the meaning of the words, and Selena turned pale.

"So soon! But it's late at night!" Richard was speechless. Why did you come at this time instead of earlier or later?

At the same time, he felt mixed emotions: he was worried because he was about to leave his family, but he was happy because he could finally pursue the wizarding path that he had always dreamed of.
