As Tafeef and Safa stepped into the circle, a cacophony of terrifying roars erupted from all sides. Furnitures were flung around wildly, and blood oozed through the walls like a sinister fountain.
Safa screamed, "Get out of here! Please don't hurt anyone else."
Suddenly, the room fell silent. A few hazy, indistinct shapes materialized before them. A harsh, disembodied voice boomed, "We won't leave. We'll possess this boy's body and spread evil. And we'll do it after killing you too. You're our final prey. Get out of there. There's no escaping from us."
"Will that set you free?" Safa replied. "You're trapped in someone else's servitude too."
Everything became pin-dropped silence. After a brief pause, Safa continued, "If you want to break free from this bondage and return to your own world, then stop this. Do what you came here to do, and you'll be released and can go back."
"We haven't found a way to do that." the voice replied. "So, we'll do this. We'll possess the boy, drain his life force, and satisfy the devil by making you half-naked. Then we can possess him. The boy's mother has given us permission."
Tafeef looked at Safa in disbelief. "Ms. Safa, is what they're saying true? Did my mother ask them to do this?"
"Yes, it's true," she replied. "Don't worry, if God wills, this madness will end today. Your mother's evil spirit will be banished from this house."
"Everything seems so confusing," Tafeef said.
"Just watch," Safa replied. "I'll explain everything later."
Suddenly Safa's phone rang. She answered it and ended the call quickly. Then, turning to the hazy shapes, she said, "I'll help you be free. In exchange, you have to leave this place forever."
"We agree," they replied.
"A man will enter this house soon. He's your real target. Kill him, and you'll be free from servitude. Return to your own world."
A strong wind swept through the room. The hazy shapes merged and swirled, exiting the room. Tafeef and Safa followed them to the veranda. They saw a man entering the house, and the shapes surrounded him. Tafeef asked, "Who is that man? Why is he their target?"
Safa replied solemnly, "That's your father and my stepfather."
Tafeef was alarmed. "My father is here? The Jinns are going to kill him. We have to save him."
Safa stopped Tafeef. "Some sins must be punished in this world."
Moments later, the man's lifeless body lay on the floor, mutilated in a manner eerily similar to Tafeef's mother's.
A woman's loud laughter echoed through the house, growing fainter and fainter until it disappeared along with the man's dead body.
Safa sighed in relief. "The Jinn's influence is gone. The laughter you heard was from the evil spirit that possessed your mother. It has been pretending to be your mother and haunting this house. Now that your mother's wish has been fulfilled, it has left."
"What was my mother's wish? And what's with all these Jinn and stuff?" Tafeef asked.
"Your mother used black magic to summon seven Jinn to take revenge on your father. To hide her actions, she pretended to be mad and stayed in a corner of the house. Your maid was a witness to all this, but your mother with the help of the Jinns killed her too to keep her secret. Eventually, she fell victim to the seven Jinns herself."
When she summoned them, she made a deal: if they couldn't kill your father, they would possess you. For this, they needed the bodies of seven virgin girls to satisfy the devil.
Since your father wasn't here to be killed, they turned their attention to you. Your mother objected, so they killed her. Then, they began killing girls, but they couldn't possess you. Your mother had trapped them in this world until they completed their task.
"Tafeef let out a long, sorrowful sigh and said, "How did you find my father? How can he be your stepfather?"
"Three years ago, my mother had an affair with your father and abandoned my father. The two of us stayed with our father. One day, we learned that your father had strangled my mother to death because she refused to transfer our property to his name. I found out all of this by reading your mother's diary, there was also a picture of your father in there. So, I brought him here to punish him for his sins. He got what he deserved, and you were also saved from the atrocities of the seven Jinns. If they had possessed your body, who knows how many more innocent people would have lost their lives?'"
Tafeef sighed heavily. "So many innocent people suffered because of my mother's revenge."
Safa paused. "Yes, that's the truth. When you deal with Jinn you often end up harming yourself. Forget about it. Let's forget about the seven Jinn. What's lost is lost."
Tafeef nodded, accepting Safa's words. Indeed, human revenge is often more terrifying than the supernatural.
