Chapter 2 - The past catches up

Akua's hands trembled as she applied her makeup, her mind racing with memories of Kwame. Their past was a tangled web of love, lies, and heartbreak. She had thought she'd left it all behind, but now, with their fake marriage looming, the memories came flooding back.

"Akua, are you ready?" Efua asked, peeking into the room.

Akua nodded, taking a deep breath. She slipped into her dress, a beautiful traditional Malawian garment, and made her way to the living room.

Kwame was already there, looking handsome in his suit. His eyes locked onto hers, and for a moment, they just stared at each other, the tension between them palpable.

"Akua, you look stunning," Kwame said finally, his voice low and smooth.

"Thanks, Kwame. You don't look so bad yourself," Akua replied, trying to sound casual despite her racing heart.

As they exchanged pleasantries, Akua couldn't help but notice the way Kwame's eyes crinkled at the corners when he smiled, or the way his hair curled slightly at the nape of his neck. She had forgotten how much she loved those little details about him.

But she couldn't afford to get caught up in the past. This was a fake marriage, after all. She needed to keep her guard up.

As they left for the wedding venue, Akua's nerves grew. What secrets was Kwame hiding? And what would happen when the truth came out?
