"Oh, Daisy, what are you doing here? Don't tell me you actually got married." Penelope's voice sliced through Daisy's thoughts, dripping with sarcasm as she let out a mocking laugh.
Penelope leaned in slightly, barely noticeable, trying to catch a glimpse of the marriage certificate Daisy clutched tightly in her hands, her knuckles white with suppressed anger. Curiosity burned in Penelope's eyes—she wanted to see the name of the man Daisy had supposedly married.
"Who did you marry, Daisy? Did you seduce some rich man? Still a whore like your mother, huh?" Penelope sneered, her eyes sweeping over Daisy's clothes with disdain.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. Seems I guessed wrong, though. Looking at those outdated rags, it seems you've married a beggar. Poor Daisy... life has never been kind to you, has it?" Penelope taunted, her words cutting deeper as Daisy's gaze remained fixed, though her mind seemed far away. Penelope smirked, convinced she had gotten under her skin.
"What a shame we never got to meet your husband before the wedding. But don't worry. I'll make sure to inform Father that you got married without his blessing. Maybe I can even convince him to invite you and your *husband* over for dinner. Who knows? We might be generous enough to throw some money your way," Penelope said, her words dripping with mock pity as she paused, noticing someone approaching. Her smile widened smugly at Daisy, who stood trembling with anger.
"Who are you talking to, babe?" a deep, masculine voice called from behind Daisy, making her body tense instantly. The familiar scent of his cologne filled the air, sending a fresh wave of rage through her.
"Alex, dear!" Penelope purred, her voice sickeningly sweet as the man walked up beside her, his eyes immediately locking on Daisy, who kept her head down.
"Look who I found here today," Penelope said smugly.
"Come on, sister, don't tell me you're too shy to show your face in front of him. Oh, I forgot—he's your ex. But, sister, tsk, tsk, tsk, you can't harbor such promiscuous feelings for him anymore. After all, he's my husband now." Penelope's voice was triumphant, though she stiffened slightly when Alex's grip on her waist tightened at the mention of Daisy.
Daisy calmly folded the marriage certificate and slipped it into her bag, her lips curling into a subtle smirk as she finally raised her head to meet Penelope's gaze. Zade had left earlier to take a call after they signed the papers, and for once, she was grateful for his absence. He wanted to keep their marriage a secret, and her loud-mouthed *sister*—no, Penelope was nothing more than a pest—didn't need to know.
*Let her believe I married a poor man,* Daisy thought, her smirk growing as the thought settled in her mind. *She won't know what hit her when I finally strike.* She met Penelope's gaze head-on now, her eyes filled with quiet defiance, but she remained silent, allowing the weight of her stare to do the talking.
The effect was immediate. Penelope faltered, her once confident expression wavering as she struggled to maintain control. The icy stare Daisy fixed on her was unnerving, and for the first time in their exchange, Penelope seemed unsure.
"Wait—were you speaking to me?" Daisy asked, pulling one earbud out of her left ear, feigning confusion. Her voice was soft, yet the question hung in the air, twisting the knife in Penelope's pride. Penelope's eyes widened, her confidence cracking as the realization hit her.
Daisy hid her smirk well, relishing the shocked expression that crossed her sister's face. She always kept one earbud in, even when in public, a habit from work. Today, her long hair had conveniently concealed the other earbud, which remained in place. By pretending she had been listening to something else all along, she turned the entire exchange on its head.
"You..." Penelope stammered, her voice barely a whisper as the humiliation washed over her. Her cheeks flushed red, the crowd of onlookers adding to her embarrassment. For all her efforts to humiliate Daisy, it was she who now stood in the spotlight, reduced to nothing more than a woman ranting to herself.
"What happened, Penelope?" Daisy asked innocently, tilting her head to the side. "I saw your mouth moving, but I couldn't hear a thing. You see, I was on a call with my husband." She maintained the innocent expression, watching as Penelope's face burned even redder, her shame now unmistakable.
"Daisy, it's... it's nice to see you," Alex's voice broke through the awkward tension, his attempt at civility falling flat as the weight of the moment pressed down on them all.
Daisy slowly lifted her gaze, feigning surprise as though she hadn't noticed him standing there. Her lips curled into a slow, smug smile as their eyes met, and she could see the discomfort written all over his face.
"It's been a while, Alex," she said smoothly, her tone as cold as her smile.
"You know what, Daisy?"he sneered looking at the girl who stood before him with tears in her eyes as he held on to his trousers the only thing covering his nakedness.
"I never loved you"he shouted in anger.
Angry that he was obstructed while he was busy enjoying himself, angry for the stupid obstruction she caused .
"What is there to love about you?You are nothing compared to Penelope! Don't blame me for sleeping with her" he shouted in anger .
She stood there frozen looking at the man she had loved with all her heart and given everything to,including her virginity with trust, the man she had planned her future with .
"Alex..."she called his name with in a small voice that sounded like a whisper which he heard and it irritated him immensely and he sneered at her .
"Don't look at me like you're some saint when you're just a whore like your mother,"he continued, his voice dripping with disdain as every word of his felt like sharp blades peorcing in her from the insides .
"What can you offer me, besides your body which by the way I did never enjoyed, or else I would not be inside with your sister right now .
If only you where as good and beautiful as your sister then I would not have to the need to be with Penelope, she is the type of woman I want and everything you can never be .
She has everything including your father's favor, I made a mistake by going for your fist thinking you are the first born so you would be the heir, but no I was wrong .
You might have been the first born, but you are still nothing to the Balfour's .
By the way I intend to correct my mistake, so listen ad listen carefully.
Do not ruin things for me and Penelope, stay out of this for your own good "
He sneered at her .
"I don't love you Daisy Balfour, never did , and never will"his voice dripping with disgust as he stared at her .
"Now get out of my house you slut"he said holding her tightly on her hands and dragging her outside of his apartment while slamming the door on her face .
As the sound of Penelope's moans along with his filtered through the air .
