Chapter 28 - Wounds Heal. Scars Remain

Since the battle of morning meadows.

Four months have passed. During these four months Horis didn't do another full on attack as he knew, currently he stood at a disadvantage with Lenin having a powerful mage like Bek and house Ester supporting him. Rumour had also started to spread that after the death of his uncle, Lenin had turned into a monster. So he waited, but in the mean time he ordered smaller guerrilla attack so as to not give them a chance to rest. He knew lose of Adlaf would have created a huge hole which would be very heavy to fill.

He ordered a similar attack on a small castle near Quang.

The small band of soldiers infiltrate the castle with little to no resistance. As they make their way deeper into the castle, an eerie sense comes over them. It was a little too easy.

They make their way towards the main chamber

But at the end of the hallway, a hooded figure stood.

"W-w-who is it ??" One of them asked with a frightened voice

The hooded figure removes his hood to reveal it's Lenin himself.

"Hahaha, has the Joyern king finally lost it that he has come to die himself "

Another stops him, "Wait!! If he's here then his soldiers must be near."

Before anyone could say anything else , Lenin speaks," it's ok. I am alone. Nobody else knows I am here."

Hearing this puts a smile on the faces of the Frega soldiers. They thought they could end the war and be the heroes who killed Lenin.

All of them rush towards him.

Lenin removes his cloak to reveal two war axes by his sides, made out his uncles huge axe and Ulma.

In the four months time Bek had finally found a way to stabilize Ulma and with the help of a master craftsman forged them into weapons. But they were not tested yet.

So Lenin used this opportunity to test them out.

As he wields the axes, the magic surges through his body. His eyes glowing blue.

The men advance with the intent to kill. Lenin swings his axe. Enhanced by magic, it descends like a bolt of lightning.

Cutting right through the first man.

The others stop dead on their track. Terrified. By what they just saw.

Before they could react he rushes in.

Decapitating two of them and ripping the jaw clean off the third one.

Two of them attack togather. Lenin dodges one and blocks another. As he swings his axe, the soldier tries to block with his sword. But Lenin chops right through his sword. Slicing his head in two.

After witnessing this showcase of savagery and brutality, they realised something, the rumours were false.

He was no monster.

He was the devil himself.

As the others start running to save their lives, Lenin hunts them down one by one killing each and every one of them. He chase the last one down.

" You, soldier, what's your name" Lenin speaks coldly.

"Aaaa... Aran" the soldier replies with tears in his eyes and fear in his heart.

"Aran, I want you to transfer a message for me.

Tell your king.

I am coming for him "

After that he leaves, with a single Survivor left to send his message forwards.

He returns to his castle drenched in blood. And sees Bek giving him the feedback of the weapon.

As it turns out after infusing the weapon with Ulma it grants it's user access to small amount of magic enhancing their speed and strength. They called those weapons mana weapons. But if the body isn't strong enough to handle it or you use it for too long, it drains the user's vitality.

Unbeknownst to them this was actually used before in a battle by Wamos, when he was fighting Adlaf. Though it was an inferior version.

After a few more days, Kel sadly informs Lenin that he would have to leave as he had been away from his homeland for quite a long time. But he does leave a small fleet and Bek for him.

With that and the mana weapons almost ready. Lenin was finally ready for his revenge. Afterall revenge is best served cold.
