Chapter 29 - [Chapter-29 Reliable Mentor]

Scene: Mountain Residence - Afternoon

The sun hung lazily in the sky, casting a golden glow over the rugged mountainside where Jason and Derek lived. The peaceful atmosphere was at odds with the brewing storm inside the small, stone-walled residence. Derek, arms crossed, face flushed with anger, stomped around the room like a toddler throwing a tantrum. His frustration had been building for days now, and today was the day it all finally erupted.

Jason, meanwhile, sat cross-legged on a meditation mat, eyes closed, seemingly oblivious to the chaos that was about to unfold.

Derek: (pacing back and forth, muttering angrily) "You didn't tell me! Not a single word! What kind of master doesn't tell his student about something so important?!"

Jason remained still, his breathing calm, his expression serene. Derek, on the other hand, was about ready to explode.

Derek: (stopping suddenly, glaring at Jason's meditative form) "Are you even listening to me, Master?!"

Jason: (still meditating, speaking in a calm tone) "Of course, Derek. I hear you loud and clear."

Derek: (throwing his hands in the air, voice rising) "Oh, really?! You hear me, huh? Then why didn't you tell me about Auguitius?"

Jason opened one eye, glancing at Derek with an expression that screamed, "I don't have time for this."

Jason: (calmly) "It didn't seem relevant."

Derek: (furious, fists clenched) "NOT RELEVANT?!" (mimicking Jason's calm tone) "'Oh, by the way, Derek, that mysterious person you were so terrified of? She's just my childhood friend who happens to be the daughter of the Angelo-Human king.' You didn't think I might want to know that?!"

Jason shrugged nonchalantly and closed his eye again, returning to his meditation.

Jason: (murmuring) "You worry too much, Derek. All that stress will make you bald. You don't want to look like a boiled egg by the time you're 30, do you?"

Derek: (growling, now pacing again) "This isn't about going bald! This is about you keeping secrets!"

Jason: (sighing dramatically) "Oh, the agony. Poor, sweet Derek. My heart breaks for you."

SFX: The faint hum of Jason's meditation, the sound of Derek's frantic pacing on the stone floor.

Derek clenched his fists, visibly trembling. His face turned beet red as he stomped over to Jason, standing directly in front of him with his hands on his hips, trying his best to look intimidating—which, considering his boyish face and height, wasn't exactly working.

Derek: (yelling, almost like a child) "You should've told me! I'm your student! I have a right to know!"

Jason: (mumbling, eyes still closed) "You have the right to chill out, Derek. Honestly, you act like such a brat sometimes. I should've stuck to teaching rocks. They're quieter."

Derek: (offended, puffing his chest out) "I'm not a brat! I'm—"

Before he could finish, there was a soft sound of footsteps outside, and the door creaked open. In walked none other than Auguitius Bord, her white cloak flowing gracefully behind her as she entered the room. The air seemed to change the moment she stepped in—like a breeze of calm had swept through the mountainside.

SFX: The soft creak of the door opening, the gentle flutter of her cloak.

Auguitius: (smiling politely) "Oh, am I interrupting something?"

Jason immediately shifted gears, jumping up from his meditative posture with a fluid motion and smoothing his robe. Derek, on the other hand, froze like a deer caught in headlights.

Jason: (grinning like a cat caught napping in the sun) "No, no. We were just… uh… training. Right, Derek?"

Derek blinked rapidly, his brain scrambling to catch up.

Derek: (nervously laughing, rubbing the back of his neck) "Uh, yeah! Right. Training. Really important stuff. Super intense."

Auguitius: (raising an eyebrow, amused) "Oh, really? It sounded more like a domestic squabble."

Jason waved her off with a chuckle, his carefree demeanor back in place.

Jason: "Ah, you know how it is. Students these days, always complaining about something or other. I didn't get enough training, you didn't tell me about your powerful childhood friends, my feet hurt—it's always something."

Derek: (muttering under his breath) "I heard that."

Auguitius stepped further into the room, her calm and collected presence almost mocking Derek's earlier outburst. She looked from Derek to Jason, clearly suppressing a smile.

Auguitius: "Well, I came to speak with Jason about the upcoming Gunxam exam. It's going to be quite the event this year. I'll be the chief guest, after all."

Derek's eyes widened as the words hit him like a ton of bricks.

Derek: "Wait… Chief Guest? You?"

Auguitius nodded, her white hair shimmering slightly in the afternoon light.

Auguitius: "Yes. As the princess of the Angelo-Human territory, I was invited by the kingdom to oversee the event. It's a great honor."

Derek blinked, staring at her in disbelief.

Derek: "You're going to be the chief guest at Gunxam?"

Jason: (nonchalantly) "Oh, did I forget to mention that? My bad."

Derek: (spinning around to face Jason, absolutely livid now) "YOU FORGOT TO MENTION THAT TOO?!"

Jason: (shrugging, casually picking his nails) "It must have slipped my mind. A lot was going on. You know, buying groceries, meditating, ignoring your tantrums—very busy day."

Derek: (flailing his arms in exasperation) "You're unbelievable!"

Auguitius chuckled softly, clearly enjoying the show.

Auguitius: "It's always entertaining when you two are together. It's like watching an old married couple argue."

Jason grinned cheekily at Derek, who was still fuming.

Jason: (teasingly) "Ah, you see, Derek? Even she can see the love between us."

Derek: (glaring daggers at Jason) "I'm going to strangle you in your sleep, Master."

Jason: (mockingly gasping, placing a hand over his heart) "Oh no! Not while I'm meditating, please. I'd hate to die so peacefully."

SFX: The soft sound of a distant breeze, the light laughter of Auguitius as she watched the two men bicker.

Auguitius stepped forward, her expression softening slightly as she addressed Derek.

Auguitius: "Actually, Derek, I came here to ask Jason if he could offer some insights for the Gunxam exam. Given the stakes, I thought you might want to hear his thoughts."

Derek's anger vanished instantly, replaced by excitement. His eyes lit up like a kid who just found out it was his birthday.

Derek: "Yes! That's exactly what I was going to ask! Master, you've gotta help me with my training for Gunxam!"

But Jason, being the eternal troll that he was, waved him off with a dismissive hand, already turning to return to his meditation mat.

Jason: (yawning exaggeratedly) "Sorry, Derek. No time. I've got a lot of important sleeping—I mean, meditating—to do."

Derek's mouth dropped open.

Derek: "But—but—"

Jason: (interrupting, not even looking at him) "It's fine. You'll figure it out. I mean, you're super talented, right? It's not like you need my help."

Auguitius watched the exchange with amused curiosity.

Derek: (fuming, stomping over to Jason's side) "You're seriously not going to help me? You're just going to sit there and meditate?!"

Jason: (calmly, eyes still closed) "Yup."

Derek: (grabbing Jason's collar, shaking him slightly) "GET UP! I'M NOT KIDDING! I NEED YOUR HELP!"

Jason: (still calm, eyes not even opening) "Derek, I'm meditating. If you wanted my help, you should've asked nicely."

Derek: (screaming in frustration) "I DID ASK NICELY!"

Auguitius, trying to keep from laughing too loudly, stepped in to diffuse the situation.

Auguitius: "Derek, if it's any consolation, I could help you train. I've been around long enough to know a few useful techniques."

Derek blinked, momentarily distracted from his mission to shake Jason into submission.

Derek: (raising an eyebrow) "Wait… you would?"

Auguitius: (smiling kindly) "Of course. If you don't mind learning from me, I'd be happy to show you a few things. After all, I am the chief guest, and I have a vested interest in seeing strong competitors at Gunxam."

Jason smirked, one eye peeking open just long enough to give Derek a knowing look.

Jason: (smugly) "See? I told you. Everything works out in the end. Auguitius is a much better teacher than I am anyway."

Derek, for once, was speechless. His mind was racing, trying to process the sudden turn of events. He had come into this day thinking he was about to get some serious one-on-one training with his master, and now here he was, being offered the chance to learn from a princess.

Derek: (slowly, a grin spreading across his face) "You know what? I think I'm okay with this."

Auguitius chuckled, her soft laughter like the sound of wind chimes on a breezy day.

Auguitius: "Good. Then let's begin. I promise you, by the time I'm done with you, you'll be ready for Gunxam."

SFX: The scene fades out with the sound of laughter and the soft rustle of leaves outside, as the sun begins to set behind the mountains.

As Derek stood there, grinning like a fool, he couldn't help but feel that maybe—just maybe—things were finally starting to go his way. Sure, his master was lazy, and sure, he had spent the entire day arguing like a child, but now he had something even better: a princess willing to teach him the techniques he needed to win the biggest exam of his life.

Jason, meanwhile, smiled to himself as he resumed his meditation. He knew this was exactly what Derek needed—someone with a fresh perspective to push him further. And, more importantly, it meant Jason could take a nap in peace.
