Joanne's POV:
Ever since Arec called to confirmed if he misunderstood my text, I couldn't get it out of my mind.
I remembered how I had, stared at my phone long after the call with Arec had ended, my fingers gripping it so tightly that my knuckles turned white.
The nerve of him. Arec and I had been friends for years, yet for the first time, he had doubted me. He questioned my judgment because of her.
I still could not believe it, he doubted me. Me, his longest, most loyal friend. All because of her. Ella.
Ever since that woman had come into his life, nothing had been the same. Arec had always trusted me without hesitation. If I told him something, he believed me. We never needed to explain ourselves to each other; we just understood. But now, with Ella around, he second-guessed me. He had even asked me to explain myself as if I were some outsider. As if I didn't know what was best for him.
It was infuriating.
