"I promised you that he would be glad to see you. I have told him a lot of things about you which is enough to make him want to see you as soon as possible" I said to her trying to make her comfortable.
While we were still talking, I heard a voice from the gate and the horn of a car.
Obviously, my son, Kelvin, has returned from wherever he went to.
"great. He is already here. Please make yourself comfortable before he comes in" I said to her.
"OK ma" she said, locating a seat towards the door.
Soon, we heard the door knob move and behold my son entered the house looking so tired but as handsome as I knew him to have always been.
"Hello son, how are you doing today?" I asked him, trying to reduce the tension in the room that Bella was battling with.
" I am a fine mum. I am just tired and I feel like suspending the rest of my activities for today" he said to me
"I understand, son but I have something to share with you that will really interest you," I said to him.
"wow. I do not know the last time I saw you as happy as this mum. What is the good news?" Kelvin asked me, ignoring Bella that sat very close to him.
"please have your seat first" I said to him
"OK Mum" he said to me sitting just directly opposite me
"So what is the reason for this kind of happiness that I have not seen in the last two years, mum?" Kelvin asked me.
"Remember the lady I promised to show you?" I asked him
"the lady who you claimed to be ready to go into a contract marriage with me based on my conditions?" he responded.
"yes, son" I said to him
"What about her? Is anything the problem?" Kelvin asked me. I was offended by his attitude but I tried to smile to put the situation under control especially with the fact that Bellawas sitting there and listening to our conversation.
"do not be this rude Kelvin" I cautioned him
"but mum…" he tried to protest
"There is nothing like "but" here, Kelvin. You are sounding rude and I do not like that" I said to him.
"Well, this is the lady that I told you about. Her name is Bella… Bella Pires" I said to him
"Hi, good evening," Bella Said after I introduced her to Kelvin.
"Hi" Kelvin replied without any form of life in him
"What is wrong with you, Kelvin?" I asked him as I stood up from my seat.
"I do not understand what you are talking about, mum. I have told you on multiple occasions that I am not interested in a fake marriage. I do not think that it is a wise decision to fool myself all in the name of having a contract marriage" Kelvin said to me.
"Something is wrong with you, Kelvin. Such a beautiful lady and you are here telling me that you are not interested in a contract marriage after you made me talk to her and convince her about it only for you to tell me that you are no longer interested?" I said to him,
" I have told you on so many occasions but you seem to be trying to force your wish on me" Kelvin said to me.
"uhm… I think I will be on my way now" Bella Spoke up interrupting me and Kelvin.
"no, Bella you are not going anywhere" I said to Bella when she made to leave.
"She has to leave except she is planning to get married to you because I am not ready for any form of marriage or relationship right now" Kelvin said to me.
We exchanged words back and forth until Kelvin left the living room and moved over to his room.
"I am sorry for his weird behavior. Trust me he is still trying to come to terms with the new reality but I promise you that this will be sorted out in peace. Just make yourself comfortable. I will be right back in a minute" I said to Bella after helping her with her luggage to the guest room
"OK ma'am," Bella replied.
I came back to the living room to meet Kelvin sitting down and watching a series on television.
"What the hell is the meaning of what you did just now?" I asked Kelvin
"I do not understand what you mean, mother?" Kelvin asked me
"you still have the guts to tell me that you do not understand what I mean?" I asked him
He kept silent without responding to me
"Kelvin, please listen to me. All the things that I have been doing are for your own good. I want you to be happy because your happiness is my only source of happiness. I do not know how I will cope seeing you in this mess. It is not just about you but about me and the posterity of the family" I said to him trying to make him see reasons with me.
"I have heard you mum," he replied.
"this is what you said the last time. I need you to give me a good response" I said to him
"OK Mum, I will go ahead with the fake marriage agreement but I insist that my conditions be met" Kelvin said to me.
"That is not a problem, son. Can I call her in now?" I asked him hoping that he would oblige.
"OK, mum," he replied.
I was filled with so much joy and happiness because my plan seems to be working just the way I planned earlier. Kelvin might not realize what I am doing for him but he will come to appreciate me later on f
or what I am doing for him.
Very soon, my family will become what it used to be before.
