Chapter 6 - Self-Affirmation

Yang Kai stepped out of his dwelling, heading towards the sect's training grounds. The morning air was crisp and fresh, with a gentle breeze rustling through the plum blossom trees that surrounded the area. The scent of the blossoms filled the air, adding a sense of tranquility to the atmosphere. But within Yang Kai's heart, there was a storm of thoughts and emotions. He had spent the past few days training relentlessly, and each step he took toward the training ground was filled with determination and anticipation.

As he arrived at the training ground, he noticed a small group of his fellow disciples who were already immersed in their routines. He could hear the clash of weapons mixed with the whispers of the wind. However, as soon as he entered the area, the atmosphere shifted. Everyone paused their training, turning to him with a mix of surprise and scorn in their eyes.

"Look who's here! It's Yang Kai, the boy who seems to be stuck at the Third Rank Martial Artist stage!" one of his peers remarked, raising an eyebrow in mock surprise.

Another laughed sarcastically, adding, "Maybe he should stop trying to be a warrior and head to the fields. He might find his true talent in herb picking rather than fighting!"

A small smile crept onto Yang Kai's face, but he didn't respond to their jabs. He knew that words wouldn't change anything and that he needed to prove himself through actions. As he walked past them, their comments were nothing more than distant buzzing in his ears. He had a clear goal in mind, and nothing was going to stop him.

But before anyone could continue their mockery, something unexpected happened. Instructor Ou, the veteran mentor who commanded respect from all the disciples, appeared in the training ground. His stern gaze was as intense as ever, but there was something different in his expression today. He walked directly towards Yang Kai, his eyes fixed on him as if they were piercing through his soul.

"Yang Kai..." Instructor Ou began, his voice calm yet authoritative. "Am I seeing what I think I am? It seems you've made a breakthrough."

The training ground fell silent once more. The laughter froze on his peers' faces, their gazes shifting from mockery to shock. None of them had expected that Yang Kai, the one they were mocking just moments ago, had achieved such significant progress.

"Yes, Instructor." Yang Kai replied confidently, his eyes gleaming with determination.

Instructor Ou smiled and pulled out a small, glimmering pill from his pocket. "This is a testament to your achievement. It's the Ten Thousand Warrior King Pill. You've earned it."

The silence in the training ground deepened. The pill was a symbol of power and accomplishment in the sect, only given to those who had truly proven themselves. Yang Kai took the pill from the Instructor's hand, feeling a powerful surge of pride fill his heart.

He looked at his peers, who were now staring at him in disbelief. There was no need to respond to their sarcastic remarks; they were now nothing more than distant memories. He knew that this moment would not be forgotten and that he had begun to prove himself in the way he had always dreamed of.

But Instructor Ou wasn't finished yet. "Yang Kai, with this achievement, you are now eligible to take the Inner Disciples Test. This is where you will truly prove your worth."

Yang Kai felt a rush of excitement course through his veins. The Inner Disciples Test was the opportunity he had been waiting for. It wasn't just a challenge; it was a chance to advance to a higher level within the sect, opening new doors to power and learning.

"If you are ready, go to Master Li. He will give you the task you must complete to prove you deserve to join the inner disciples." Instructor Ou added with a serious tone.

"I'm ready." Yang Kai said, his voice filled with confidence.

With those words, Yang Kai set off towards Master Li's quarters, determined to face the challenges ahead. He knew this was just the beginning of a long journey, but with the power he had gained, he was prepared for whatever lay ahead.
