In a world where magic was whispered about but rarely seen, a young orphan named Anol lived a quiet life at St. Haven Orphanage. He had never thought himself special—until the day he discovered his strange ability.
It started as a simple game of hide-and-seek with his friends. The sun cast long shadows over the orphanage courtyard as Anol sprinted past the old well, searching for his playmates. He tripped over a loose stone, and before he hit the ground, his vision darkened. For a brief moment, everything around him became misty and surreal. Then, like watching a scene play out before him, he saw something odd—a glimpse of his friend Jerum hiding behind a thick bush near the well, crouched low in a spot no one would ever think to check.
Gasping, Anol snapped back to reality. He quickly ran to the well, his heart pounding. And there Jerum was—exactly as he had seen.
Jerum jumped up in shock. "How did you find me?!"
Anol had no answer. His stomach twisted with unease as he stepped back. What had just happened? He barely responded as he wandered away, his mind racing.
That was just the beginning.
Over the following days, strange visions plagued him—fleeting glimpses of things before they happened. At first, they were harmless: a teacher spilling ink on her desk, a cat knocking over a potted plant, a bird landing on the orphanage gate seconds before it actually did. But soon, the visions grew darker, more terrifying.
And one night, he saw something that made his blood run cold.
Chapter 2: The Foreseen Disaster
Anol awoke with a start, his breath ragged. The vision had been more vivid than ever before—flames licking at the orphanage walls, terrified children running for safety, and shadowy figures destroying everything in their path.
A gang. Ruthless men attacking his home. And worst of all—he knew it was going to happen tomorrow.
Terror rooted him to his bed. How could he stop something no one else knew was coming? Would anyone even believe him?
By morning, Anol couldn't keep it to himself anymore. He sought out Jerum, his closest friend.
"Do you remember how I found you that day?" Anol asked, his voice urgent.
Jerum frowned. "Of course. I still don't get how you knew I was there."
Taking a deep breath, Anol admitted the truth. "Because I saw it—before it happened."
Jerum's eyes widened. "What do you mean?"
"I can see glimpses of the future," Anol said, his hands trembling. "And I just saw something terrible. Our orphanage—it's going to be attacked tonight. We have to do something."
Jerum hesitated, clearly trying to process the impossible. "Are you sure?"
"Yes! I swear, it was real!"
Jerum swallowed hard. "Then we need help. Let's tell the pastor—"
"No!" Anol interrupted. "What if he doesn't believe us? We need a plan."
A voice interrupted them.
"I might have an idea."
They turned to see Annabel, a sharp-witted girl from the orphanage who had been listening in.
