I want to test out my new abilities so bad. If only I had some mana regeneration, I looked for one on the evolution but nothing of the sort came up. It was also one of the reason I waited so long for the evolution point to reach a thousand. Not being able to use my skill and abilities for testing purposes is killing me.
I wanted answers. How effective was it, how reliable they would be. All good questions that could only to be answered at the battle itself. Fortunately and unfortunately for me I didn't have to wait long.
The wizard wasn't waiting for night to come, he have a new eye patch covering his left eye and he wasn't alone. Four heavily armoured knights were with him, six others as well though they weren't as armoured as the knights.
Of the six, two carried wooden bows, one a crossbow, one a sword, two of them were just with sticks. The knights wield shield and a long sword strapped to the waist. That's way too much for one rat, overkill I say. Doesn't the wizard wants to kill me himself, this looks like he just wants me dead. Kill me yourself you coward.
Now there are eleven combat ready humans, and I am barely prepared for one. No way I'm fighting this. I'm out. I was never here.
With my poor hearing I could hear the sounds of dogs barking. Great they brought some hunting dogs as well, and they are barking at my exact location. At first they told the dogs to quite down but when they turned towards direction the dogs were barking towards. The two archers readied there bow and everyone else were alerted by it.
All of them were looking at me now. Should have upped the stealth, I only poked my head out because I heard some footsteps. Now look at what that got me.
This was the worst and now I have to fight in broad daylight. Thankfully we were in a barn and there were many places for me to hide. Even if the dogs sniffs me out everytime I hide, if I'm not in there direct line of sight I'm okay.
I jumped down form the cover of the roof, moments later two arrows flew right at the place I was seconds ago. They were really good at this, I could somehow dodge it with a jump this time but I don't think they will miss a stationary target, even one as small as me.
I landed on a roll of hay, they were six such hay rolls in the barn and several wooden pillars supporting the barn roof, a few wooden furnitures here and there. If I want to run away from here I'll have to take out the dogs. With them on the constant persuit I won't reach far.
I'll have to fight them here afterall. Outnumbered thirteen to one and even the weakest of them could kill me in just one hit.
They knew where I was, landed infront of them after all. The hay roll I landed on did provided some cover, it was nearly twice as tall as the humans. They couldn't really see the top of it and that was where I was, the top of it.
Form the sound of there footsteps I could hear that some of them were surrounding me, while some split up for more visual coverage. No doubt it was the archers and the crossbow-man trying to get a visual on me. Dammit those three were my prime targets, if they are constantly attacking me for afar one of there arrows or bolts will eventually hit.
On the ones surrounding me attacking the four knights is out of question, I don't have anything on me that could pierce armour. Of the remaining, the two with the stick were holding a leash to the dogs. The other was some guy a sword and the last remaining was the wizard.
What do I do I have to move fast, the archers are almost in a position were they could start flinging there arrows. Woo here goes nothing. I get to the edge of the hay roll, the one with the least footsteps comming from it's direction. It was the dude with a sword, he shout something when he saw me, could really understand the language spoken here, but if I had to take a guess it was be something along the line of 'oh shit a rat'.
He was readying to swing his sword, I could see that the sword he was holding was not long enough to reach me form there, my eye upgrades were really helping me out. Unless he does some crazy jump attack I should still be safe for a while.
I waited, every second was painful. My heart my thumping loud, I could feel the blood flowing through my veins. He shout to his friends when he saw me, so his friends came. I could see the knights with my peripheral vision and turned around. The wait was over so I ran towards the opposite side.
At the edge here it was a stick wielding dog whisperer, I jumped towards him. If he hadn't been holding the leash to the dog he could have hit a home run with that stick. He wasn't ready for me to jump him, so his reaction was suboptimal.
He was covering his eye with his stick holding hand and I landed on his elbows. I've been aiming for the eye alot but I can adapt to the situation you idiot. I jumped to his shoulder and towards his neck. I readied my sharp claws and slit his throat with one swing of the claws. No skill or ability was needed, just the strength stats doing it thing.
Having three cuts on the throat was sure to be unpleasant. Three cuts because I have four fingers and I couldn't position the thumb to do the cutting. My claws were long for me but it was a centimetre long at most. Fortunately it was long enough for the job. Blood started pouring out the wound and the worst part was the look in his eyes. He did not expect to die in some rat hunt, he place both his hand on the wound desperately trying to stop the bleeding.
Blood was spouting out his mouth in small coughs. The dog was with him whimpering, licking the man's face not knowing what else to do. The others were comming so I ran into a different hay roll, I could fell the gase of sheer horror the dying man was giving me. I was the one being hunted, I can't afford to back down now but I am sorry those unrelated had been caught in the crossfire.
