I ran out of the burning hay roll before the fire got to me, they weren't only burning the one I was hiding in, all of them were being burned. It looks like they have no intention of minimising collateral damage, I'm sure the farmers aren't very happy with how the wizard was doing things.
Speaking of the wizard, he seems to be on the breaking point, I don't think he's gonna be methodical on his approach anymore, not that he ever was. The fire will spread and the whole thing will burn down, they intend to end things before it got to that.
One of the knights saw me and started swinging his sword, he has good control over his sword but a sword isn't really the best weapon for killing a rat. It wasn't hard to dodge, the shield was also useless dead weight, the extra protection it provides wasn't really necessary against me. They could use it to beat me to death with it, like the shield bash one of them tried earlier, though I don't think it would be that easy to do.
The fire burned hotter that they would have liked, I can feel it. Its covering me form the marksmans and the dogs were too scared of the fire to approach me. The fight hasn't gone on for long yet it was the exhausting kind, the heat the knights were feeling under all that armour had to be intense. This was now a war of attrition and it heavily favours me. It didn't really turned out how they would have hoped, sure I could still definitely die from the fire but it was a greater problem for them.
The wizard was on the move, when he saw how hard the knights were struggling to hit me with their swords he shouted something at them and hearing whatever the wizard shouted the knights immediately made way for him, literally jumping out of the way. I had a bad feeling about it so I jumped away with the knights, moments later something exploded on the place I had just stood. I looked back and see fire burning on the ground and a deep crater left by the explosion.
It was a fire spell so powerful it wasn't like throwing a ball of fire but more like a granade exploding out in a conical shape from his hands, one blast from that and I'm dead. The knights weren't happy with how the wizard was doing things but the wizard seems to outrank them so they unwilling comply to his orders.
There was no place left to hide with all the fire and the knights were back on pursuit. One of them decided to ditch his weapon and shield and came at me with his feet, trying to stomp me to death. It was a more effective than using the sword and I had to struggle for dear life, the metal shoes were not something I could even dent with all the strength I have and one good stomp will do me in, seeing how effective it was the other knights followed suit and all four knights were trying to stomp me.
They were more than willing to stomp on each other feet making the dodging of it all incredible hard. The physical limits of my body was being pushed hard and exhaustion was building up, I can't do this forever, one mistake and it's over. So I jumped on the boots of one and jumped again and climbed up his leg, one of the knights stomped the feet I was just on missing me by a split second and another kicked the leg I was currently climbing. I activated my second skill of the fight, [Double Jump], I only use one jump so it was technically a single jump but that was how the skill was named. I landed on the chestplate of the knight, it felt warm form the fire, I did another jump as I felt the danger.
I barely dodge the sword that was swung my way, it hit the chest plate of the knight I jumped from. The sword left a scratch and the knight that was hit didn't seem to mind, it really was not a fair fight, a single swing of that would have cleft me in two yet against their armour it barely left a scratch.
I flopped on the ground with a thud and ran towards the wizard. He threw a glass of something that he was drinking to the ground when he saw me rushing towards him, he quickly readied a spell and the knights didn't follow knowing what was to come. I leaped to the side before he could release his spell, a burning hay roll between us. He used his spell anyway and blew the hay roll to pieces, bits and bits flew all over the place.
The spell didn't even came close to me, he was not really good at aiming his spells at all, especially when his target was not in view. Yet the loud sound the explosion made nearly deafen me, it certainly disorient me. See the chance one the knights jumped at me not trying to stomp me to death like before, no, now he was trying to get me with his hands.
I ran towards him, making him missed. Jumped towards his face, the constant jumping I have to do in this fight was making my legs so hot it felt like it would explode on a few more jumps. His hands were clasped together from his earlier attempt to get me, before he could get them separated it was my turn, I stick to his helmet, a paw gripping to one of the holes in his helmet, another paw reading to strike.
I could use my [Flesh Melting Strike] here but due to the shape of my claws there was a legit chance it won't reach him at all, also I was going for the kill not make him lost an eye. So I use my other ability [Flesh Morph], it was the first time I use this ability so I was concerned it would work the was I intended. The description was vague at best and I didn't have the luxury of testing beforehand, luckily for me I turned out good. I have a clear image of which body I was trying to change and how I want it changed.
My right paw, all the fingers on it fused to one. My claws turned into one needle like nail, the transformation was near instant. I pushed my transformed claw into the eye hole of the helmet, he quickly closed his eyes, but the eyelid wasn't enough to stop my attack. It pushed through, the eye themselve were soft so there was no problem there. But I have to reach deeper, far deeper. I felt a crack through my arm, it was the knight's skull, particularly the back part of the eye socket.
I twist my arm, scrambling his brain with my transformed claw. I call this move the nonconsentual lobotomy. It felt gross on my part, and I quickly change my arm back to what it was before. Flesh morph was pulling mana ever second it was activated, not a full point of mana per second but I wasn't comfortable with having my mana drained no matter how small it was.
[Health: 6/10]
[Mana: 2/12]
I don't think I'm gonna make it. The lobotomized knight was squirming in pain behind me, it will take a while before he actually die but he shouldn't be a problem anymore. Three knights, one wizard, one dog whisperer, two archers and one crossbow-man left. A total of eight are left and I only have two points of mana left.
