Chapter 4 - Coping

Chapter Four:

Seraphina's POV

What did he mean by 'in a man's house'? Was he accusing me of something by any chance? But wait, I wasn't even his fiancée yet so what the hell was that?

My heart ached and I tried to guide my tongue to a respectful utterance since he's still my Alpha and hadn't offended me in this life. In fact, he barely knew me.

I closed the gap between us but left four steps apart. "I found my way out. The jer... the owner of the house had warmly let me stay with him till I felt better." I lowered my head out of habit.

I wondered why I phrased it like that. Was I trying to make him feel jealous? I had to remind myself that he didn't even know who I was before and wasn't engaged to me. Even when he was engaged, he didn't care so my actions would mean nothing.

"I see. I had to come out here for nothing."

For some reasons, he sounded disappointed. It made me wonder why he even came for me in the first place instead of relying on the incompetent search party.

"I appreciate the concern, Alpha." I rolled my eyes as I said but he was in front and couldn't see me.

My arms wrapped around my body and I let him walk ahead. Many times I admired his warm coat but we weren't in a fairy-tale were he'd just give it to me, not when he was secretly a jerk.

We reached the park and I sneaked to my house, crossing the line of shops to the estate that belonged to my mother and looking around for the red coloured gate.

In my past life, I had moved out when the bullying became much and I thought I'd be turned to a servant in this twenty-first century.

I pushed the gate open and stood before a white duplex of a three storey building. Beautifully decorated with stones etched on the walls and unique designs on the windows. My father's car was still parked in the yard.

"Samira, are you completely healed now?"

I felt her presence at the garage.

"Yes, I'm fine. Don't worry."

She always had a monotonous reply even when she felt a lot. My hands ran through my hair and I inhaled and exhaled deeply. Meeting Alpha Sebastian hadn't been in my plan for this second life but at least, nothing sparked between us.

"I want to sell the house like I did last time except I'd not use it to rent another duplex in the city but invest in a business." I told Samira as I walked into the house.

The smell of incense left by my father's mourners hadn't cleared out. I waved off the smell and climbed upstairs. "I'd also sell dad's car before it breaks down on the road six months from now and embarrass me."

My phone rung from a room and I cornered to its direction. The caller ID was Molly and I suddenly remembered the best thing about my old life.

"Hey, girl, how are you?" I asked cheerfully.

Molly was the Lead Hunter's daughter and had lost her dad at the war too. She moved to another state after that and I hadn't seen her ever since. My face fell flat when I remembered that important detail. Molly was also in mourning!

She sniffed. "Sera, are you feeling okay?"

I looked around my room for what to say. My father's death still hurt me but I went through months of therapy and got over it. It doesn't surprise me anymore as I came in terms with it in my past life. Of course, I couldn't explain this to Molly.

"I plan to sell the house and the car and move out of here." I said with a solemn tone. "I know you have plans to do the same so let's do it together."

She exhaled on the phone. "How did you even know about it? I have been thinking of leaving this pack before my dad... my dad..." She sobbed.

I calmly left the room and looked for the house documents and car documents in my father's room. The sooner I leave this place, the easier it'd be to avoid interactions with Alpha Sebastian and the quicker my heart would heal.

"Molly, you'd be alright. Me too. With time, and after you leave this place, you'd discover the best version of yourself and find the right person that'd make you happy."

She didn't need to hear the last part and it made me realise that I spoke to myself and not to her. She sniffed again and hummed. "I will be alright. And you too, Sera. Thank you for being brave for me even if you're hurting too."

I smiled and nodded. "I'd be rooting for us."

The call disconnected after that and I saw my father's file of important documents. When I saw his housing and car documents, I left the room immediately.

For some reasons, the house was dusty. It was something I hadn't noticed before. This mansion was cleaned by some omega girls I paid and in my past life, they joined in bullying me a week after my father's death.

"So they didn't do their job after I've paid them? This was when their rebellion started, wasn't it?" I shook my head.

Climbing down the stairs, something tripped me but I held unto the rail. The documents fell down the stairs. I sighed and glared at the coke poured on the ground. I didn't even drink beverages so who did this?

I knew my mother's mansion was seen as a place free for all but it'd have to change now. I picked up the file and as some documentation that spilled.

One of them caught my attention.

"What? An undertaking? Why is there an undertaking of my mother giving her company to her younger sister?" I flipped the document to the other side and my eyes popped.

The company wasn't taken by her younger sister but given to her to handle till I grew up?! I left the ground so fast while staring at the document.

If it was till I became an adult, then I was already eighteen. Does this mean that a multi-million company was waiting for me to take over?

A wide grin came to my face.

Goddess, it seemed your creation had become like the female leads in those exciting face slapping dramas.
