Chapter Sixteen – At The Dining Hall
Natasha's POV
Emperor Killian Khan of the Kherson Empire. I wouldn't have thought he would be jovial and accepting. He mirrored my mother with his sarcastic replies.
I felt that I could get used to being in this place, and maybe even being a wife? That might still be far off, but I could see my options were limited.
He walked ahead, but I could tell he counted the steps I made. It wasn't in my head that he took note of my steps and pace. As a maid joined us in the dining hall, he paused and waited for her to pass. Possibly because he didn't want her to interfere with his studies.
"Am I slow?" I asked a little cheekily.
He must have noticed, as he smiled and didn't give a reply. It hadn't been long since I'd known him, but that reaction would mean 'yes, but I don't want to tell you.'
