For a second, the world went dark and the light disappeared, and it was as if we were in a viscous jelly. After that, the world returned to its original colours. The smell of blood hit my nose, and I saw a picture of a cave... littered with goblin corpses! A dozen or more goblins - they were lying dead on the ground, and pools of blood and urine were spreading beneath them.

Somewhere not far away we could hear goblin squeals and sounds of battle. All in all, we were in the wrong place. A glance at the map showed me that we were in the wrong place. We were in a completely different place, and we were somewhere I hadn't been before.

That... that sucked. Though I seemed to be getting closer to Elvina, but Aquina and Vivi were getting further away from me. Problem... at least we weren't in the arse end of the world and that's bread.

'Brother?!' - I was tugged by a grabbed arm. 'There are live ones out there, five... no, two already. One is very strong, killed all the goblins. There are two of them left. The other one is weak, but... maybe he's a mage. Hmm, they seem to be mates,' Arine gave her verdict, pointing with her hand towards the passage, from which sounds were coming from before, but now only the echo of footsteps and someone's tired breathing could be heard....

I looked in that direction, and then turned to look at the portal and... I wanted to slap myself in the face. For there was nothing there, no portal, no arch - nothing at all! There was just a wall and that was it! Just like in magical vision - N.I.C.C.E.G.O.!

...

'Got it, sis. If anything, we are apprentices of a warrior who lived in the mountains. We don't know his name, and we only called him 'teacher', and after he gave the verdict that he had finished our training, he sent us off on adventures! That is, he gave us a kicking. That's our legend. You and I are brother and sister. And yes, don't kill regular people, it could get us in trouble, okay?'

Sis nodded, clenching her fists near her head. I even thought there was a strange sparkle shining behind her back.

Staring a little, I smiled.

'And yes, you better not use blood magic in public, but if you can, reduce your spear and use a sword!'

'Understood, little brother, but... are you sure? I'm not very good at sword fighting...' - With doubt, she extended her hand with the spear. The weapon began to melt before her eyes and lost its length in a matter of seconds, the blood soaking into the air as it soaked into her little sister's armour. Now she had a small shaft, no bigger than an elbow, which she quietly hung on her belt, and then she drew her sword from its sheath.

However, it wasn't covered in mist like mine. I hesitated, taking a step in the direction where the sounds of battle had come from earlier, leading my little sister behind me.

'Hmm, can't you make a blade invisible to the eye?' - I questioned, stepping through puddles of blood and round the corpses of goblins.

'Huh? I can, but it takes a lot of effort and I'm not good with a sword... I'm more used to my spear, sorry bro.'

'Alright then, you don't have to apologise all the time. By the way, can you do something with goblin blood?'

'No, they're just ordinary monsters and their blood is ordinary. It won't do anything for me... and, little brother! They're goblins are nasty creatures! Their blood is very foul... the very thought of consuming it disgusts me!' - She shivered with revulsion and disgust.

Hearing her reply, I grinned involuntarily. Had she known I used to be a goblin. Oh well, that's in the past, and it's a past that should be long forgotten. I'm a different person now!

So over the usual conversations with my little sister, we went round all the rare goblin corpses. And the closer we got, the harder I tried not to make any noise. Eventually I had to start moving stealthily, and eventually the corpses became few and far between, and we reached the ones who had killed them.

What was my surprise when I saw in the darkness a lone torch and two somewhat tired men. The first was familiar to me from the moment of my death - the Goblin Killer, and the second... was a cute looking short priestess with long golden hair and blue eyes, wearing a white bloodstained skirt with white stockings down to her thighs and a funny headdress. In her hands she held a staff with tinkling rings, on the end of which was an upside-down heart and a blue ball at the tip, and already on the core hung a few golden rings on the sides that made a low ringing sound with every step.

- Sir, the goblins are... gone... hah...' the Priestess breathed heavily, leaning on her staff and glaring at the Goblin Killer.

He nodded faintly, sitting down next to the goblin's corpse. He held a small bloody sword in his hands, which he wiped on the goblin's rags and slowly stood up, looking around.

'Brother, what are we going to do?' - My little sister mentally asked me, looking at the two of them. You could feel the disdain for the swordsman in her tone. She obviously had negative emotions towards him, looking at his armour and sword.

'Hmm... I don't know, sis, I'd like to be friends with this guy, which I advise you to do as well. Well, or at least hide your disdain for him if we're going to be socialising, okay?' - I grinned, squeezing my little sister's hand. Feverishly thinking about what steps I should take now.

There were two options.

The first was to show up and walk out. I didn't know how he'd behave. But... he only kills goblins, so I don't think he'll do anything to us.....

The second was to wait outside the cave, good thing I felt a fresh breeze behind me when we appeared here.

'H-okay, little brother, but why would we... be friends with him? He's...he's a...wimp, isn't he!' - she mentally grimaced.

At such a thing, I smiled demurely.

'Heh, I know his looks aren't great, but don't judge a book by its cover. This guy is ub... ahem,' I almost babbled to myself, 'very strong. You wouldn't know it by looking at him. I'm not praising him, but killing goblins is his calling and he used to do it alone!'

'So... do you know him, little brother?' - Sis asked modestly, taking a new look at the warrior, occasionally shifting her gaze to the priestess.

'No, but there was a time, met him once. Too bad we couldn't agree then and the one... (killed me) didn't want to listen to me. Hehe, he's probably forgotten me now too.'

'Hmm... brother, you're... angry with him... I can feel it,' she squeezed my hand caringly, 'should I teach him a lesson?' - she finished innocently.

'No, just remembered an unpleasant moment. I've long forgotten it and put it behind me, don't dwell on such things' - during our little conversation, the Assassin and Priestess finished their business, exchanged rare words and moved towards the wooden boxes and a small pile of bones lying in the far corner.

'Hmm, and he's as resourceful as ever!' - I praised him, to which my little sister looked at me questioningly.

'Weren't you listening to their conversation?'

'Sorry, little brother!' - She shook her head in annoyance.

'Alright, but from now on, don't ignore such things, because you can always learn something new by listening carefully to outsiders. Ahem. Over there, you see the wooden thing behind the bones - that's a primitive goblin door. The goblin cubs are hiding behind it.'

Arine stared in the direction of the bones for a moment and mentally cringed.

'Ewww, nasty critters!'

...

Gobs motioned to the rubbish and quickly swept it away before kicking out a rickety piece of wood with his foot, entering a new passageway. Behind him, the priestess stood a little slumped, turned away and closed her eyes, muttering something to herself.

Then there was a thumping and slurping sound, muffled goblin shrieks, and silence. In a matter of seconds, everything went quiet and the Goblin Killer returned.

The priestess gave him a tortured look at his appearance, saying something quietly to him, and he nodded.

...

Okay, something we've been looking at, it's time for us to get acquainted too, but for that we'd better wait for them outside, pretend we want to go into the cave or something...

'Okay sis, we should go outside, that's where we'll meet them. By the way, you haven't seen the sun and nature before, have you?'

In response to my words, she burst into a blaze of delight and nodded her head frantically, almost glowing with joy and anticipation.

With mental laughter, we moved towards the exit, navigating by the barely perceptible fresh smell. I cast a last glance at the Goblin Killer and Priestess, who were in no hurry to return.

'I will soon learn much about you, Goblin Killer...' - I mentally smiled, feeling anticipation and trepidation. Soon I'll know all about you and then....
