Chapter 9 - Shadow of the past

"Guess who visited today?" Norah said, laying her head on Thomas's lap.

"Who is that, please?" Thomas asked, curiosity piqued.

As he was about to guess, he mentioned, "William?"

Norah's reaction was immediate and intense. She screamed, her body tensing as if she was about to go into trauma. The mere mention of William's name brought back a flood of painful memories from her past with him.

Thomas, alarmed by her reaction, gently held her. "Norah, what's wrong? What happened with William?"

Norah took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. "William… he was a part of my past that I thought I had left behind. Hearing his name just brought it all back."

Thomas stroked her hair soothingly. "It's okay, Norah. You're safe here with me. You don't have to face those memories alone."

Norah nodded, her breathing slowly returning to normal. "Thank you, Thomas. I just need some time to process this."

Thomas held her close, offering his silent support. He knew that whatever had happened with William was deeply traumatic for Norah, and he was determined to help her through it, no matter how long it took.

Thomas, trying all he could to help Norah forget the past, was taken aback by how intensely she reacted to William's name. As Norah slept peacefully beside him, he found himself deep in thought, trying to understand the depth of her trauma.

He couldn't shake the image of her scream from his mind. It was clear that William had left a significant scar on her heart. Thomas wondered what had happened between them to cause such a strong reaction. He knew he needed to tread carefully, to support Norah without pushing her too hard.

Sitting alone in the quiet of the night, Thomas resolved to be patient and understanding. He would be there for Norah, helping her face her past when she was ready. He knew that healing would take time, but he was determined to stand by her side through it all.

As he watched her sleep, Thomas whispered softly, "We'll get through this together, Norah. I promise." He knew that love and patience were the keys to helping her heal, and he was ready to give her both.

Thomas, knowing where William's office was, drove there with a determined look on his face. When he arrived, William greeted him with a smug smile, clearly curious about the unexpected visit. "Have you come to freely offer me the contract you stole and my wife you took?" William asked, his tone dripping with sarcasm.

Thomas stepped closer, his eyes blazing with anger. "Pray nothing happens to Norah, my love. If anything happens to her, I will teach you the lesson of your life," he said harshly.

William's smile faded, replaced by a look of confusion. "What does this mean? Is everything okay with my wife?" he asked, his voice tinged with genuine concern.

Thomas's expression hardened. "The last time I checked, you divorced her. She is currently mine, and everything she shared with you died the very day she left your house."

William's confusion deepened. "What are you talking about? Why would anything happen to Norah?"

Thomas leaned in closer, his voice low and threatening. "You have no idea what she went through because of you. Your name alone brings her pain. If you ever try to interfere in her life again, you'll regret it."

William took a step back, clearly taken aback by Thomas's intensity. "I never meant to hurt her. I thought she was better off without me."

Thomas shook his head, his anger barely contained. "You don't get to decide what's best for her anymore. She's moved on, and so should you. Stay out of our lives."

With that, Thomas turned and walked out of the office, leaving William standing there, bewildered and shaken. As he drove back, Thomas felt a sense of resolve. He would protect Norah from her past, no matter what it took.

While this was going on, Aiden quickly put a call through to Evelyn, informing her of everything that was happening. Evelyn, hearing this, said, "Please don't hang up on me. I'll be there right away." She quickly got into her car, muttering to herself, "Bushit, I don't want William to know about his son. If he finds out, I will be finished." She drove at high speed towards William's office.

Back at William's office, Thomas confronted him. "My woman just went into trauma because she asked me to guess who visited in my absence. When I mentioned your name, she couldn't handle it. I'm here to warn you: stay away from my woman," Thomas said, his voice filled with anger.

William, unfazed, replied, "She is my ex-wife and now my dream. Where is she?" He tried to push past Thomas, but just then, Evelyn walked in.

"Where do you think you're going? Going for her and the son?" Evelyn asked, her voice sharp.

William was shocked to see Evelyn in his office. "What are you doing here? How did you get to this place, my love?" he asked, confusion evident in his voice.

Evelyn yelled at him, "I am not your love! I thought you loved me. Why is it always about Norah? She is your ex-wife. Focus on me."

William, taken aback, tried to calm her down. "I am always with you, Evelyn," he said, trying to reassure her.

Thomas, seeing the chaos unfold, decided it was time to leave. He walked out of William's office, feeling a mix of anger and relief. He drove back home, his mind racing with thoughts of Norah.

When he arrived, he found Norah sitting calmly, looking much healthier. She smiled at him as he walked in. "Thomas, you're back. How did it go?" she asked, her voice gentle.

Thomas sat beside her, taking her hand in his. "It was intense, but I made it clear to William that he needs to stay away from you. How are you feeling?"

Norah squeezed his hand, her eyes filled with gratitude. "I'm feeling better, thanks to you. I know it's not easy, but with you by my side, I feel safe."

Thomas kissed her forehead, his heart swelling with love. "We'll get through this together, Norah. No matter what happens, we'll face it as a team."

As they sat together, the bond between them grew even stronger. They knew that the road ahead would be challenging, but they were ready to face it together, united in their love and determination.

"I overheard you mention Norah's son. She has a son with Thomas?" William asked Evelyn, his curiosity piqued.

"Yes, a son with him," Evelyn answered quickly, trying to cover up the truth. She succeeded in blindfolding William with her lie, hoping to keep him from discovering the real story.

Meanwhile, back at home, Thomas and Norah were enjoying a quiet evening together. Thomas couldn't shake the feeling that something was off, but he didn't want to worry Norah. He decided to keep a close eye on the situation and protect his family at all costs.

As the days passed, Evelyn continued to manipulate William, keeping him in the dark about the true nature of Norah's life. She knew that if William ever found out the truth, it could spell disaster for her plans.

But Thomas was determined to stay vigilant. He knew that the truth had a way of coming out, and he was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead to keep Norah and their family safe.
