Chapter 10 - The disgrace ex-husband

"Baby, what happened to me? Where is my baby?" Norah asked, her voice trembling with worry. Thomas, who didn't want to bring up William's matter, gently replied, "Thank God you are fine."

As they continued talking, Norah suddenly felt a wave of nausea. She bolted to the bathroom, barely making it in time. "Babe, are you okay?" Thomas asked, concern etched on his face.

Norah wiped her mouth and nodded weakly. "I'm fine, just a little queasy."

Thomas wasn't convinced. "Norah, I think you should see a doctor. This isn't normal."

"I'm fine, Thomas. Really," she insisted, trying to brush off his concern.

But Thomas was persistent. "Please, Norah. Just to be sure. For both our sakes."

After much persuasion, Norah finally agreed. They went to the doctor, who examined her thoroughly. After a few moments, the doctor looked up with a smile. "Congratulations, Norah. You're two months pregnant."

Norah's eyes widened in shock. She felt a whirlwind of emotions—joy, fear, confusion. She looked at Thomas, who was beaming with happiness. "Pregnant?" she whispered, placing a hand on her stomach.

Thomas took her other hand, squeezing it gently. "We're going to be parents, Norah."

Tears welled up in her eyes as the reality of the situation sank in. She felt a mixture of excitement and anxiety. The thought of bringing a new life into the world was overwhelming, but with Thomas by her side, she knew they could face anything together. "I can't believe it," she said, her voice trembling. "We're really going to have a baby."

Thomas pulled her into a hug, his heart swelling with love and pride. "Yes, we are. And we're going to be amazing parents."

Norah smiled through her tears, feeling a sense of peace and determination. She knew there would be challenges ahead, but she was ready to face them with Thomas. Together, they would create a beautiful life for their child.

The next morning, Norah woke up early and dressed in a sharp suit, ready for the presentation. As she opened her door, she was startled to see William kneeling before her. "What brought you here, William?" Norah asked, her voice cold and distant.

William looked up, his eyes filled with regret. "I'm here for the presentation too, but when I saw you, I felt ashamed. I needed to apologize."

Norah glanced at her watch, impatience evident in her posture. "Young man, I am running late. Maybe next time in your world, you will learn how to treat your woman right." With that, she walked past him, her head held high, and got into her car.

Frustrated, William threw the file he was holding against the wall, loosening his tie in anger. He had forgotten all about his own presentation. When he finally arrived at the hall, his eyes couldn't stop following Norah. She was poised and confident, commanding the room with her presence.

As Norah began her presentation, she made eye contact with everyone, but her gaze lingered on William. Memories of how he had mistreated her flooded back, causing her to falter. Her voice wavered, and she began to speak erratically. Overwhelmed by the emotions, she suddenly screamed, the pain of her past with William crashing down on her.

The room fell silent, all eyes on Norah. She took a deep breath, trying to regain her composure. Thomas, who had been watching from the back, quickly moved to her side, offering silent support. Norah looked at him, drawing strength from his presence, and continued her presentation with renewed determination. William, on the other hand, was left to grapple with his guilt and the realization of what he had lost.

After the presentation, Norah was surprised to see Thomas and hugged him tightly. "How did you get here, my love?" she asked, her eyes wide with astonishment.

"The moment I heard William was involved in this, I took the first available flight to be here for your protection," Thomas replied, his voice filled with concern.

Norah's heart swelled with happiness. She felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude and love for Thomas. "Thank you so much, Thomas. I don't know what I would do without you," she said, her voice trembling with emotion.

As they embraced, William stood at a distance, his eyes filled with pain and regret. He couldn't tear his gaze away from Norah, the realization of what he had lost hitting him hard. Determined to make amends, he drew closer, hoping to speak with her.

But as he approached, Norah noticed him and her expression hardened. "What do you want, William?" she asked coldly.

"I just wanted to talk, to apologize," William stammered, feeling the weight of his mistakes.

Norah shook her head, her voice firm. "There's nothing left to say. You had your chance, and you blew it. Now, please leave us alone."

Embarrassed and defeated, William turned away, the sting of rejection burning deep. Norah watched him go, feeling a sense of closure. She turned back to Thomas, who held her close, and together they walked out of the hall, ready to face their future together.

Williams turned to Thomas, his voice filled with anger. "Young man, you stole my contract and now you think you can take my woman away from me."

Thomas smiled and stepped closer to him. "The last time I checked, she is your ex-wife and now my fiancée," he said, then leaned in to kiss Norah on the lips right in front of Williams.

"Oh my God," Williams muttered, feeling a sharp pain in his chest. The sight of their kiss and the realization of his loss filled him with disgrace and regret. He stood there, unable to move, as Norah and Thomas walked away, hand in hand, leaving him to grapple with the consequences of his past actions.
