Caspian and Caleb quietly entered the room. Charlotte was awake, her eyes fixed on them as they approached.
"Sweetheart, your life is in danger," Caspian began gently, his voice soft but urgent. "I know seeing both Mom and Dad like that was traumatic for you, but the man responsible is still out there, and he's dangerous. We can't let him get near you again. Unless we gain a foothold as strong as his, we have to be careful. That's why we're moving you to Frostheart Mansion. I know you've only heard about it, but it will be a safe space for you. Nathaniel, Donatella, and the other bodyguards will be with you. To the outside world, you'll be dead, just like Mom and Dad. From now on, you'll be Charlotte Whist Frostheart. Our father was a Frostheart before he changed his name to Ashford. Now, you'll carry on his legacy. You'll be the next Frostheart."
Caspian's words were measured and careful, making sure Charlotte understood the gravity of the situation.
"Also, Princess," Caleb added, "there's the Carter Mansion next door. As far as I know, no one lives there. But remember, Frostheart and Carter have a long-standing enmity. It's best to stay away from them."
Caspian nodded in agreement. "We'll visit you discreetly. We can't risk that monster finding out you're still alive."
Both brothers hugged Charlotte, and she clung to them, drawing strength from their embrace.
Later, Caspian called a meeting with Nathaniel, Donatella, Raphael, Jacob, and Charles.
"Nat, you'll be in charge of her health and medication. Hire a trustworthy physiotherapist to assist if needed. Donatella, you'll help her with daily activities and personal needs. Raphael, you're now the butler of Frostheart Mansion—you know the place better than anyone as the son of our late grandfather's former employee. Jacob and Charles, you'll both be her bodyguards. Protect her from any threat, but respect her privacy."
"Yes, Sir," they all responded in unison.
"Cale, let's move her quickly," Caspian urged.
"Got it, Cas. I'll bring her to the car. You grab her favourite items; we can buy the rest later."
Charlotte had fallen asleep by the time Caleb carefully carried her outside. Caspian was waiting in the car. Caleb handed the sleeping Charlotte to him, and with a final glance around, they drove off to Frostheart Mansion, where her new life would begin.
