"As planned, my lady, they have moved toward the forest. The plan is progressing as it should."
It was nearing midnight, and most of Taya's soldiers were deep in slumber. They had pitched their tents in the valley that stretched between the forest and the chain of hills extending endlessly into the distance.
Taya, however, was restless, her mind racing with thoughts. There was still no report from Miro regarding the situation on their end.
"Damn that scoundrel! I told him to report every hour. What is he doing?"
She hadn't noticed that her assistant had just left the tent when Orig entered, carrying trays of what appeared to be appetizing dishes.
"El, check the camp and tighten the patrols along the area. Commander Drwik is not a man to be underestimated," she said firmly, but there was no response. Instead, she felt warm breaths against her neck.
