Even though falling from the first floor wasn't a big deal, Alex still rolled on the ground just to be sure nothing happened to his bones. When he sat up, the numbness around his senses disappeared, and he felt pain in his right shoulder. He knew he had torn a muscle. The worst part was that his real-life injuries would carry forward into his next game.
He heard loud sounds coming from the stairs, like many people running. Alex took a deep breath and decided not to escalate things. He couldn't afford to get more injured. Without caring about anyone else, he sprinted to a nearby alley and started running toward the highway.
He knew, with Carl involved, they were probably going to surround his house. Aside from the newly formatted laptop, he didn't have anything important at home, so he decided not to risk going back. As he moved, he kept cursing himself. He knew from day one those guys were always trying to figure out how he made money and how much he had.
