Alex's screens continued to shift from one part of the island to the next. He soon slammed his table and shouted at his team leader. "We need to stop the attack."
This attracted the other four members' eyes to him. Not wasting time, he shared his screen with others.
The moment they saw that, everyone's eyes popped up. The team leader took out his phone and tried calling the head analysts, but no one responded.
Not wasting time, the team leader grabbed his laptop and rushed toward the main operating room while shouting to Alex, "Share this on my ID."
While Alex did that, he shifted back to the primary event with little hope in his eyes. Now only if Stars players find out about that. Everything would be good.
While all of this was going on, the commemorators finally caught on to the spider's scheme.
"Look, both gunners from the Spider Guild are now running toward the back of the Stars."
"Oh no, stars are trapped. If the gunners attack the Jugaza from the back, the entire Star guild will have to face the beast's wrath alone."
"Wait, oh my god, look at the dragons and machine guilds. All their rangers shifted their direction toward the stars' position. Are they going to wipe out the Star Guild first?"
"How are Star Guild going to re—" Before he could finish, two members of the Star Guild stood up.
Just seeing the two faces, Star fans started shouting in excitement.
Woooo!
The second commentator introduces them. "Look, the crit king Brian and magic princess Liya both stood up and are aiming for the beast king, Jugaza."
"There is only 1 minute left before the start of the catastrophe. If nobody can kill the beast, the winner will be decided based on the damage done. Stars can win if they inflict a ton of damage before the start of the event."
Alex stood up, seeing this screen. "What the fck are they doing?"
Others in his team also shouted, "Get the fck out, you dimwits." They were so engrossed that they did not care about the curses.
A similar chaos was going on in the command room, where the head was looking at the team leader's laptop screen.
Inside the game.
Brian shouted, with a massive black spear shining in his hand, "When should I shoot?"
Liya also shouted, "I am ready too. Head, tell us when we should attack." No reply came. Both of them looked anxious until they heard a loud sound.
Bang!
Before they could realize what was going on, Liya's face popped like a balloon.
All the star players stared at the front toward the Spider Guild main camp, where a woman in a black suit blew smoke out of the long sniper rifle. Everyone inside and outside the game had their mouths dropped.
Both commentators stood dumbfolded with hands on their heads. Even old man Mica rubbed his eyes in disbelief.
One commentator grabbed the microphone and screen. "One shot, one kill. It is none other than the spider queen herself that popped Mage Princess Liya's head."
The other commentator asked what was on everyone's mind. "Is sniping from that far even possible?"
"Haha, that's why she is queen. The queen controls life at her fingertips. All hail to the queen."
The Spider fans started chanting while everyone else looked a little pale, especially the star fans.
As this was chanting going on, old Mica said, "What's going on? How did no one for stars notice the skill charge?"
Before anyone could think much, the entire Spider Guild used their most powerful skills on the Jugaza.
The beast screamed in pain. "Uaaaaa!"
At this time, the star analyst shouted. "Brian, use your attack to the left on top of the Machine Guild dome."
Brian shouted in frustration, "Are you kidding me? What's the point of doing that? We have to damage the beast as much as possible."
Brian was not the only one thinking this. The other two guilds also started attacking the beast, but unlike the Spiders, they did not prepare their most powerful skills, so the damage was not as significant.
Everyone in the Stars Guild panicked and looked at the four core members.
Eric looked at Mina, who was standing next to Liya, and she shook her head and said, "Dead. Should I use revival?"
The analyst shouted, "No, save that. We might need it in the future. For now, Eric, you rushed toward the dragons with the most powerful skill, and the rest moved back as much as possible."
Roina, the last assassin member of the core, shook her head and said, "Without Liya, our damage output won't be much. We could only hope she could cast one more skill."
But as she spoke, they heard multiple gunshots from behind. Gunners from Spider were targeting their members instead of beasts. This further made many angry.
The analysts shouted, "Listen to me, you have to move-"
Eric took out his headset at this time and smashed it on the ground. At the same time, Mina started reviving Liya. Guild members made up their minds to do what they thought was correct.
Alex looked at the screen and smashed his keyboard against the side wall. "Fck this sh*t."
Others in the building also had similar reactions.
In the game, Eric pointed to the beast and shouted, "Ignore everything and pour all of your skills on this beast fcking beast."
Chaos erupted within the game. All the guilds started attacking the beast.
Amidst the pandemonium, Mina revived Liya, who cast one last devastating spell. The damage tally soared, increasing their damage percentage to the highest.
Dragons and spiders were just a little below them, trying to catch up, with the Machine Guild having the least damage as they were moving back.
Soon, the clock hit 00:00. The island shook violently. A volcanic explosion rained lava on Jugaza.
Fans erupted in joy, thinking the Stars had clinched victory. But the game wasn't over. A red notification flashed ominously:
[Warning! The true beast, Jugaza, roared in anger. This is the start of the beast tide all around the island. The last one standing on the land will win.]
"What!" The realization hit hard. Killing Jugaza was just the beginning. Jugaza's zombified form, fueled by lava, rampaged with a horde of mad beasts.
Pouring all their mana on the possibility backfired, and the entire star guild got annihilated within 10 minutes.
On the flip side, dragons used each other as shields to survive for as long as possible.
The second to face tragedy was the Machine Guild, whom everyone thought had the most chance, but their biggest downside was being too close to the lava zombie Jugaza.
The billion-dollar competition ended with an unexpected twist. A small man from the Dragons, hiding in the roots of a massive tree, was the last one standing. His cowardice turned into triumph, making the dragons the ultimate hunters.
