Chapter 39 - THE FOGGY STATE

"Who are you both?" the guard asked.

"I'm Arnav," I replied, "and this is my fiancée.

The guard nodded. "Very well. Please, take this bracelet. It's a new device that will scan and verify you are human or not ."

He explained, "It will leave a mark on your face, visible only to authorized devices. No one else will notice it."

Arnav hesitated, but the guard reassured him. "Don't worry, it's painless. Just a drop of blood, please."

Arnav extended his finger, and the guard pricked it with a small machine. The device turned green, and after a few seconds, a ring materialized, fitting snugly onto Arnav's hand before vanishing.

The guard turned to me. "Now it's your turn, ma'am."

I hesitated, fearing my true nature might be exposed as I am not from these planet and there generation would have develop difgerent then . But I steeled myself and offered my finger.

The process repeated, and to my relief, everything went smoothly.

The guard nodded. "You two may enter the city. Remember, boy, if your information is false, you'll face severe punishment."

With that warning, he stepped aside, and we crossed the threshold into the city.

As we walked, I whispered to Arnav, "What just happened? What's the purpose of this device you said dthey marked in your face to identify as human ?"

Arnav shrugged. "I don't know, but I think it's linked to the that mark see you also got an mark I would have also gotten but it can't be seen normally until anyone is human who can send eit maybe they had formed a device so a mark don't look on any face and don't make them look bad ."

Our conversation was cut short as we immersed ourselves in the city's vibrant atmosphere.

As we navigated the city, I marveled at the diverse crowd. Some had long hair, others sported tails, and a few had jackhammer physiques with crimson skin. Amidst the chaos, some appeared remarkably human.

Our stroll led us to an ancient-looking building, a stark contrast to the city's 90s vibe.

Upon entering, we climbed the stairs and reached a grand hall. A woman sat behind a central table, her eyes locked onto us.

Arnav approached her, token in hand. "Mam, I'm Arnav. My guru ji gave me this token to present to your place ."

The woman's expression transformed from curiosity to shock as she examined the token.

"Incredible," she whispered, before rushing into a back room. "Wait, sir. Let me call the manager."

After some time an elderly man emerged, his presence commanding attention.

"Greetings, young one. Which organization would you like to join?" he asked, his voice warm.

Arnav's smile caught me off guard. "I want to join the Singharak Sena – for both of us."

I struggled to process the ease of this exchange. No exams? Direct joining?

The manager's eyes sparkled. "Ah, bold choice. Singharak Sena accepts only the finest. Let's discuss the details." He take us to a place and then the manager smiled. "You both qualify for direct admission, but promotions will depend on your performance. Fill out this form, please."

A form materialized in his hand, which he handed to us.

I completed the form, providing my new name, age, and cultivation details but I am feeling something for sometime everything looks littel foggy until is ee this paper i didn't realise it but somehow as isee paer i can see fog buti remove and again little rest my mind and closed my eyes

Upon returning the form, the manager's eyes widened.

He muttered to himself, "Incredible..."

With a swift gesture, the form vanished into a blinding light, as if transmitted to an unknown destination.

The manager's hands reappeared, holding two tokens.

"Take these admission badges, sir. They'll absorb into your bodies, granting access through the Sangharak Sena's barrier."

He handed us two additional cards.

"The blue card represents Kuber Sect, while the red card signifies Sangharak Sena. Enjoy 80% discounts and special care at both locations."

Arnav replied, "Nothing more, thank you. Just take us to the teleporter."

I felt a jolt of surprise. A teleporter?

Before I could process, Arnav took my hand in his, his grip warm and reassuring.

The manager nodded. "Follow me."

He led us to a shimmering portal.

"Teleporter activated. Destination: Sangharak Sena Headquarters."

Arnav's grip tightened.

"Ready?" he asked, his eyes sparkling.

I nodded, heart racing.

After we go out of teleporter a another room but there was a nother door

"Wait , sir," the manager said, leading us to that mysterious door.

I felt perplexed as he inserted a crystal into a small hole, and the door swung open, revealing a shimmering portal.

Arnav nodded. "Thank you, sir. I'll remember your kindness. Let's proceed."

With that, we stepped into the teleporter.

The experience was smoother and faster than my previous encounter, lasting only 10 seconds.

As we emerged, a guard with a tail on his back approached.

"New recruits? Show me your hands."

We complied, still bewildered.

The guard inspected our admission badges, now embedded in our palms

A flurry of activity ensued:

"A dress for each of you. These are the last available uniforms."

"We'll provide education, as you're still youngsters."

"Your quarters will be adjacent, considering your... engagement."

The guard's words left me reeling.

In mere minutes, we'd teleported, received uniforms, and housing assignments.

Arnav's calm demeanor steadied me.

"Let's get settled," he suggested, guiding me toward our quarters.

As we walked, I whispered, "What just happened? It's all so sudden."

Arnav smiled reassuringly.

"Welcome to the Sangharak Sena, my love. We'll navigate this together."

I felt disoriented, as if awakening from a trance. Arnav's voice broke the haze.

"Finally, you're out of your gaslighted state," he said, concern etched on his face.

I struggled to recall the events of the past two days. Hypnotic fog had shrouded my mind and now I relaise dit completely

As awareness returned, exhaustion overwhelmed me. My eyelids drooped.

When I reopened them, I found myself in my old bedroom like place , surrounded by unknown comforts.

Memories flooded back: the tournament, the teleporter, and Arnav's declaration of our engagement.

Why hadn't I reacted? Panic set in.

Beside me, Arnav slept peacefully. I kicked him, and he tumbled to the floor, striking the wall.

His scream echoed through the room, loud enough to startle anyone.

Arnav rose, rubbing his head, a mixture of amusement and anger on his face.

"Why, " he asked, his smile laced with sarcasm.

I demanded answers. "What did you do to me? Why was I acting strange?"

Arnav's expression turned serious. "You were affected by the demon's skill. Her blood causes gaslighting, warping perception and memory."

I gasped, horrified. "A powerful weapon, and you knew they used them to gaslightened our soldier making them vulnerable more and sometime to use invitation and brain. Wash ?"

Arnav nodded. "Yes, but don't worry. I'm here to protect you."?
