Unexpectedly, the receptionist spoke apologetically, "Chairman Qin, I'm sorry, but the president has been called away on urgent business. Perhaps you could come back tomorrow?"
Qin Hai's face stiffened.
He had waited for five hours, only to be dismissed with a simple excuse of an emergency?
However, Qin Hai didn't suspect that Fu Hanchuan was playing games with him.
With a rigid expression, he replied, "Alright, if he's not available, I'll return tomorrow."
The receptionist smiled as she saw Qin Hai out, her demeanor unchanged from before. Yet inwardly, she was beginning to speculate; she had noticed that the president wasn't interested in Qin Hai and was deliberately toying with him, though Qin Hai seemed oblivious to this fact.
After returning to her desk, she subtly probed Assistant Lin, confirming her suspicions.
The next day, when Qin Hai came again, the receptionist's attitude had soured considerably. Impatiently, she dismissed him, "The president is occupied today; he won't be able to see you."
Qin Hai's heart sank, his suspicions beginning to form, but he refused to give up.
"Could you possibly give me his contact number? I can return when he's free."
The receptionist gave a derisive smile, "I don't have the president's number either."
Left with no choice, Qin Hai departed once more.
The following day, he still did not see Fu Hanchuan.
By the third day, Qin Hai was growing increasingly frustrated. If he hadn't realized he was being strung along by now, he wouldn't have been able to build Qin Real Estate to its current prominence. If they continued to refuse him, he would no longer put himself in such a humiliating position.
However, that day, Assistant Lin personally came down to meet him. As Fu Hanchuan's assistant, Assistant Lin's appearance was often seen as representing Fu Hanchuan himself.
Could it be that Assistant Lin was here to escort him to see Fu Hanchuan?
At this thought, Qin Hai quickly moved forward to greet him.
Assistant Lin, with a pair of glasses perched on his nose and dressed in a sharp black suit, exuded an undeniable air of authority.
Qin Hai, showing more respect, extended his hand, "Hello, Assistant Lin."
Assistant Lin adjusted his glasses, ignoring the offered hand.
Qin Hai's hand hung awkwardly in mid-air, a flicker of embarrassment crossing his face as he withdrew it.
"Are you here to take me to meet your president?" Qin Hai asked, his tone still courteous despite the snub.
"President Fu is very busy; he's arranged for me to speak with you. What is it you wish to discuss?" Assistant Lin replied.
Qin Hai glanced around, frowning slightly, "Perhaps we could speak in a more private place?"
Assistant Lin refused, "I still have to report back to the president later; I don't have much time."
Qin Hai could only say, "You see, the plot of land in the northern part of the city—we at Qin Real Estate need it very much. Could you possibly transfer it to us? Name your price, and we'll meet it."
"Chairman Qin, let me be frank with you," Assistant Lin stated plainly, "Our president specifically wants your piece of land, and he's doing it deliberately. The reason? Your daughter has offended our president."
Qin Hai's expression froze. So, someone had indeed offended the president of the HD Group.
Of course, it was Qin Sheng. She seemed destined to thwart him. She had only been back for a few days and already caused so much trouble!
The minor issues were easy enough to resolve, but offending the president of the HD Group? Someone he couldn't even dream of meeting, let alone ingratiating himself with. And Qin Sheng had somehow crossed him!
His immediate reaction was to think of Qin Sheng, never once considering that it might have been Qin Churou who had caused the offense.
Beads of cold sweat appeared on his forehead, and he bent his back slightly.
"I'm not aware of what Qin Sheng has done. How about I bring her here and let you vent your anger on her?"
Qin Hai threw Qin Sheng under the bus, thinking only of appeasing the president of the HD Group and securing the land for himself.
