Qin Churou's actions had cost him a valuable piece of land. Normally, losing a plot wouldn't be a significant issue, but this particular parcel was crucial for the future expansion of his company. Qin Hai's anger had not subsided, and he harbored resentment towards Qin Churou.
His expression was grim as he spoke, "Rou'er, you need to be more mindful in the future. You cannot afford to act so recklessly again."
Qin Churou nodded stiffly, her gaze drifting toward Qin Sheng. Though Qin Sheng's face remained impassive, Qin Churou could sense the mockery in her eyes.
Silently, she clenched her fists beneath the table, her nails digging into her palms. Lowering her head, she continued to eat, though her mind was already calculating. A cunning glint appeared in her eyes as she looked up at Qin Hai. "Father, perhaps we could send something to please the president of HD Group, something that aligns with his preferences. I don't mean anything by it, just that since I made a mistake, I want to find a way to make amends."
Qin Hai's eyes lit up briefly, only to dim again. "Many have tried to curry favor with him over the past two years by offering gifts, but none have succeeded."
He had attempted it himself, only to meet with failure.
"Aren't all men fond of women?" Qin Churou's gaze shifted to Qin Sheng, and Qin Sheng didn't miss the calculating look in her eyes.
Qin Hai himself had a penchant for young, beautiful women, but he shook his head. "Those who tried sending women must have sent at least a dozen, if not more, and he hasn't shown interest in any."
"Maybe those women weren't beautiful enough."
Qin Churou pondered. The man, being the president of HD Group, couldn't be too old. At most, he was a middle-aged man, possibly already married. If Qin Sheng ended up with him, she would only ever be his mistress, never able to rise above that status.
At these words, Qin Hai's gaze also fell on Qin Sheng. Qin Sheng was stunningly beautiful—any man would be captivated by her looks. But quickly, he dismissed the thought. No matter how much he disliked Qin Sheng, he wouldn't send her to be someone's mistress. He was the head of a major company; he hadn't sunk to such depths.
Still, the notion planted a seed in his mind.
Seeing that Qin Hai wasn't going along with her idea, Qin Churou gripped her chopsticks tighter, frustration flashing across her face.
No one had much of an appetite anymore. They each took a few bites before leaving the table, ending the dinner on a sour note.
Unfazed, Qin Sheng was lost in thought, planning her departure from the Qin family as soon as possible. She had no desire to remain entangled in the schemes of this family any longer.
Back in her bedroom, Qin Sheng turned on her computer.
Her gaming company needed talent, but finding the right people was challenging. She knew of a computer genius, someone with an arrogant streak who wasn't easily recruited. Many had tried to bring him on board, only to be rejected.
Having interacted with him before, Qin Sheng was well aware of his temperament.
She hacked into his computer and typed a line, "Our company is planning to develop a fully intelligent game. Are you interested in joining us?"
Yu Bei, who had been sipping water at the time, nearly spat it out when he saw his computer had been hacked—especially since he hadn't noticed it happening until now.
With a smirk, he typed back, "I'd like to see if you're truly up to the challenge."
Many companies had sought to hire Yu Bei, but he had grown weary of the constant pestering. He had set a condition: he would only join a company if someone could beat him, otherwise, there was no room for discussion.
This challenge, naturally, referred to computer skills.
As for Qin Sheng's mention of a fully intelligent game, Yu Bei had no interest. Plenty of companies claimed to offer fully intelligent games, but they were usually just superficial facades, mechanical beneath the surface.
"Alright, see you at the hacker competition in a bit," Qin Sheng replied, sending the message.
The hacker competition was renowned, drawing experts from around the world. Currently, the highest record was held by someone from country G, with a score of eighty levels.
Yu Bei narrowed his eyes, typing back, "Such bold words."
Qin Sheng merely smiled, never engaging in anything she wasn't confident about.
The two entered the hacker competition together, and tonight promised to be anything but calm.
