After the warehouse collapsed, Blackwood town was still in shock. But three people - Maxine, Daniel, and Victor - knew the truth. They were worried about the darkness that wasn't completely gone. The entity was sealed away, but it could come back.
Maxine and Daniel didn't sleep much. They tried to act normal, but the darkness was always with them. Victor was quiet and didn't talk to them much. This worried Maxine.
Maxine decided to talk to Victor. She went to his study and found him looking very tired. She asked him what was going on. Victor said he was just busy studying old books.
Maxine was not happy. She said Victor had been keeping secrets from them. Victor was nervous, when he said it wasn't a good time to talk.
"we deserve to know the truth." Maxine said.
Victor sighed and said that there were things Maxine didn't know. He said that he had hoped they wouldn't need to know. Maxine felt scared and asked what he meant.
Victor said that the entity they had sealed away was connected to Blackwood town. It was tied to the land and to some families who lived there. This meant that the entity would always try to come back.
Maxine was shocked. She felt angry and sad. She said that Victor should have told them before. Victor said that he was trying to protect them, but it didn't feel like it.
Victor said that they needed to break the curse to get rid of the entity forever. But breaking a curse is very hard. It might need a sacrifice, where someone would have to give up their life.
