Chapter 8 - The Ritual’s

The hidden basement of the old Holloway mansion was dark and spooky. The only light came from candles flickering on the ancient walls. Maxine, Victor, and Daniel were standing in a circle of salt, trying to break a curse that had haunted Maxine's family for centuries.

The air was thick with an eerie feeling, and Maxine could sense her ancestors' sins weighing her down. She felt the curse getting stronger, and she knew they had to be careful. Tonight was the night they would either break the curse or fall victim to it.

Victor's voice was quiet and calm."we're running out of time. The entity is growing stronger we need to begin the ritual now ."

Victor started chanting ancient words of power, and the symbols on the floor began to glow. Maxine felt a strange energy pulling her out of her body. Daniel stepped closer, his eyes were hard and determined telling Maxine to stay strong.

Maxine focused on his voice, she couldn't afford to lose herself now. The entity thrives on fear and doubt, she had to remain strong, no matter how much the darkness tries to consume her.

But then, the room started shaking, and a growling sound filled the air. The entity, a dark and malevolent presence, was trying to break free. Victor's chanting grew louder, but the growling only got louder too.

Maxine felt the entity's cold, clammy touch on her skin. It was trying to drag her out of the circle. Daniel grabbed her arm quickly, holding her back. Victor muttered more words of power, but the shadows seemed to be getting stronger.

Maxine knew they were losing control. The ritual wasn't working. She could feel the entity's dark whispers in her mind, tempting her to give up. But she refuse to surrender.

She pulled out a small, silver locket from her pocket. given to her by her mother, and she had never understood its significance until now. The locket was warm and pulsing with energy. She held it up, and the entity recoiled in pain.

Victor took the locket, and with a deep breath, he started chanting again. This time, his words were directed at the locket. The shadows hesitated, and the entity's growling stopped.

The room was filled with a bright light, and then everything was silent. The darkness was gone, and the oppressive feeling was lifted. They had succeeded.

Victor collapsed to his knees, exhausted. Daniel hugged Maxine tightly,

"It's over," he whispered, to her.

Maxine nodded, knowing that this was only the beginning of a long battle against the darkness. But for now, they had won a small victory.
