Chapter 18 - A Calm But Difficult Test

Ava, who had just returned to the logistics department, received a call from the secretary's office, asking her to come over.

She felt very puzzled as to why the manager of the secretarial department was looking for her. She thought about this question as she walked and took the elevator to the secretarial department on the 35th floor.

Walking to the front desk. "Excuse me, is the Executive Secretary here?"

"You are Miss Harley?" The clerk at the front desk heard Ava's question and asked with a polite smile.

"Yes, that's me."

"Ms. Harley, please come this way. The executive secretary is waiting for you in the conference room." A female employee in a white shirt and suit walked out of the front desk and led the way for Ava.

The two of them arrived at the conference room. The female staff member knocked on the door a few times and reported softly. "Mr. Dawson, Miss Harley is here.

"Let her in." A magnetic and deep male voice came from across the door.

After getting permission, the female staff member opened the door and extended her hand to invite her in. "Ms. Harley, please come in."

Some employees of large companies were well-mannered. This was the first time Ava had received such good treatment. She was a little uncomfortable and just nodded in response.

Gareth waited until Ava walked into the meeting room before closing the door, looking puzzled.

She was puzzled as to why the executive secretary would meet with a new employee in the meeting room instead of the secretary's office, a place that only shareholders on the board of directors were allowed to enter.

As an employee, it was difficult for him to doubt his boss's decision. He looked back at the closed door and quickly walked back to his post.

In the conference room, Ava lowered her eyes and stood stiffly without moving.

A figure sat on a black leather swivel chair in front of the conference table with his back to her. Next to him stood a gentleman in a black suit and red tie, holding various folders in his hands. He smiled as he looked at Ava, who was so nervous that she clasped her hands together.

"You must be Miss Harley, the new employee in the logistics department! I called you here specially because there is something that requires your help." Gareth straightened the black-framed glasses on his nose and said solemnly.

"I'll be glad to help in anyway I can." Ava replied with trepidation. Although she didn't know the purpose of calling her here, she still had to carry out the tasks assigned by the leader.

"Miss Harley, you're studying at the Midwood College, so I believe you must know Tristan Kelleway, is that right?" Gareth did not keep anyone in suspense and asked frankly.

Ava was stunned when she heard the words. "Yes, he's my classmate. Can I ask why you're asking about him?"

Hearing Ava's words, Franklin, who was sitting on the swivel chair, narrowed his starry eyes slightly, and tapped the knuckles of his right hand on the conference table casually.

Gareth, who was very good at reading people's expressions, understood what she meant and replied, "Don't get me wrong, Miss Harley. As you know, he's the son of Mr. Harris Kelleway, the chairman of the Titan Group here in America. We are interested in partnering with them on a project they proposed, but our president wants to meet with him in person. So, we want you, Miss Harley, to help me make this appointment."

Ava was a little suspicious about this. She knew that if the Larsons wanted to meet someone, they only needed to make a phone call, and who would afford to refuse? After all, the one who proposed the cooperation was Titan Group, so there was no reason not to meet.

However, Tristan was just a student and had not started to manage the Titan Group. If the Larsons wanted to discuss cooperation, shouldn't they find the president of the Titan Group?

Before she could sort out her thoughts, Gareth could tell that she was worried about something. "Ms. Harley, you must be unaware that Mr. Tristan Kelleway is the young chairman of the Titan Group."

Upon hearing this, Ava looked at Gareth in disbelief.

Gareth was very satisfied with Ava's reaction at this time. He smiled and said. "Titan Group proposed the partnership, so we have to show our sincerity too. I hope you can help us out, Miss Harley."

"Well, Tristan has already flown to England today. I'm afraid I can't help you?" It was not that she didn't want to, it was just that the timing was not right. If she had been asked earlier, maybe she would have been able to tell him the previous day.

Gareth pretended to be disappointed and said, "Oh, I see. That means we have to wait for him to return to US to meet him."

In fact, he had already found out all of Tristan's schedule, which was why he invited Ava to come. With an excuse, he would not let her get suspicious, and he could also get the answer he wanted from it.

Sure enough, the president's method was very effective.

"Anything else, Mr. Dawson?"

"No, that's all. You can return to your work." After getting the answer he wanted, Gareth didn't want to keep Ava any longer.

Ava nodded and turned around, inadvertently glimpsed a figure with his back to her. The more she looked, the more familiar it seemed to her, as if she had seen him somewhere. She stared at his direction intently.

Gareth saw that she had not left but had been staring at Franklin's back, so he asked, "Ms. Harley, is there anything else?"

After his question, Ava, who was deep in thought, came back to her senses. She shook her in embarrassment and walked out of the meeting room.

After the door was completely closed, Gareth put down the documents in his hand, sat in the chair next to Franklin, picked up the porcelain cup with blue and white patterns, and started drinking. He didn't expect that testing others calmly would be such a difficult thing.

Feeling he had drank enough, Gareth put down the porcelain cup and said. "It seems she was not sent by Tristan."

There was no deliberate concealment in her words, and she answered his questions directly. Moreover, Ava did not have a comprehensive understanding of Tristan Kelleway, so they must not be very close friends as he thought.

"I saw her get out of his car with my own eyes. As you know, we must always be on guard against others." There was a strange light flashing in Franklin's secretive eyes, making it difficult to guess what was going on in his mind.
