On the second floor, Ava walked to the corridor and Franklin was just walking out of the bedroom. The two met by chance, but just looked at each other quietly.
After not seeing each other for almost a month, the two became strangers. The words hhe wanted to say were stuck in his throat and he couldn't utter them. After a moment of silence, his eyes moved downwards and saw the midnight snack in her hand.
"I heard from Mrs. Berkeley...that you haven't eaten yet." Being stared at by him, Ava lowered her eyes.
Holding the food snack, she turned sideways and walked to the small living room at the side, then placed the tray on the coffee table.
Franklin did not take a step, staring at the figure with her back to him. Was she concerned about him? But why was her expression so calm, as if she was treating a guest? "Thank her for me. But I have no appetite."
Franklin turned his back and prepared to walk towards the stairs.
