Chapter 39 - XXXIX: The King

At noon, a King made his way through his palace of gold and diamonds. He walked through a hallway, with pillars that would seem to tower into the heavens. Ornate pillars made of jade, rubies and emeralds.

The King, a monkey man, Sun Wukong, placed his hands at his back, as he frowned whilst making his way forward. He was outfitted in a majestic red robe, decorated with golden laurels that made up designs across the robe in a vine-like manner. He wore above his head a diamond, opal, jade and golden crown.

As the King Sun Wukong made his way forward, a plethora of thoughts had filled his head. All bad and none good. Though he was a mighty King meant to fear nothing, he still couldn't help but feel an unease in his heart for the meeting he was about to attend.

A meeting he had called into place.

With one more step, Wukong stood still, staring at the enormous doors before him. A door just like every other thing in the palace, was made of diamond, silver and gold. Materials of utmost value and rarity.

Without wasting anymore time, Wukong took a deep breath, then he reached out his hands, and pushed the magnificent doors open.

On the other side of the doors, was a room of divine architecture. The room was mighty, large and as expected, made of materials of great rarity. The magnificent and ornate walls were made of a mix between gold and silver. The large stained-glass windows, with intricate designs were made of rubies, emeralds and opal. Above them rested chandeliers of diamonds, suspended by nothing.

In the middle of the divine room rested a circular table, with an enormous hole in the middle like a ring. Around the table, were gods seated, waiting for Wukong. In the middle of the ring-like table, was a pedestal that stretched out six meters into the air, which held a mighty throne at the very top.

But this throne, as opposed everything very magnificent and incredible in the palace, contrasted them all, as it was made of wood. This was a choice decided by Wukong.

Upon entering the room, all eyes were turned in Wukong's direction. Noticing their eyes, he exhaled, then made his way forward.

Nothing had been spoken, leaving the enormous room filled with silence. A silence that was only broken by the thudding of Wukong's footsteps on the jade floors.

He had walked up to the round table and made his way into the middle of it through a small gap in the table. Upon reaching the enormous pedestal, Wukong at once leaped onto the top in a single bound, before sitting on it and leaning in.

After this, everyone had settled in, before Wukong spoke.

"I take it everyone is present." Wukong said, turning his sights to the gods below him. With a nudge of his head, his throne had spun around, so he could get a good view of those behind him.

"Yes my lord, every member of the Council is present." One of the gods had said.

"Good, good." Wukong said, then he proceeded to snap his finger, so a parchment appeared in a blaze of fire on his palm. He grabbed the parchment carefully, before turning his sights away from the parchment and onto his Council. "Several days ago," Wukong spoke as his throne slowly spun. "I received a...letter, if you would call it that."

As Wukong spoke, members of the Council shifted uneasily.

"Who sent you this letter?" One of the gods had asked.

Wukong at once turned his throne to the direction of the god who spoke, then he smiled.

"Why are you pretending Tenzu?" He asked, before flinging the parchment toward the god he addressed as Tenzu. The parchment flew gracefully, like a bird soaring through the air and landed directly in Tenzu's hands. "You did." Wukong said this last two words with a very menacing tone.

Upon receiving the letter, the god Tenzu read what was written in it.

Once Tenzu had finished reading the words of the parchment, he frowned, then slammed the parchment into the table and rose onto his feet.

"How can you accuse me of something so atrocious?!" Tenzu roared with a might that left the entire Council uneasy.

With one blink, Wukong was in front of Tenzu, squatting on top the table and staring straight into Tenzu's eyes. Their gaze fell into a deadlock, as neither seemed to be backing off.

"I should have you killed Tenzu, for treason against the King." Wukong said with no emotion in his voice.

"You cannot kill a member of your Council without any valid reason." Tenzu said. "You cannot just accuse me of treason without any evidence." He added.

"No evidence huh?" Wukong said, his smile now returning to his face. At once he stood, then began to walk on the table. "Tell me Councilman Tenzu, if I had evidence, then would it be okay to do away with you here and now?" Wukong had said, whilst keeping his gaze on the other Councilmen as he walked.

"You…" Before Tenzu could speak, another Councilman had interrupted.

"My lord, what is this all about exactly?" The Councilman had asked.

"Ah yes, finally. Someone has asked." Wukong said with a semblance of glee in his voice as he turned to the Councilman that spoke with a smile. Squatting in front of him, he snapped his finger, so the parchment under Tenzu's hands had burst into flames, so it reformed out of the flames on Wukong's hand.

"Here." He gave the parchment to the Councilman, pulling every other Councilmen's attention as to what was written in the parchment. "Read it out loud." Wukong said, then he rose onto his feet and turned his sights toward Tenzu.

The Councilman corrected the parchment in his hands, before clearing his throat and proceeded to read.

"It reads, step down as King Sun Wukong, and hand over your throne to one of your Councilmen," the Councilman reading found himself stuttering his words as he came to the next bit. "Do this, if you want your sister to live. We have the cure." The Councilman added.

Wukong kept his gaze on Tenzu with an intent and angry glare, but yet, a smile was present on his face.
