Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: Get Them Drunk with Chili Oil

"Put it down, put it down quickly." The others kept gesticulating and shouting at Kapas.

At that moment, Kapas was squatting in a horse stance, arms spread wide, with over a dozen buckets of chili oil resting on him, just like a street performer. Not to mention the weight, his sense of balance was exceptionally good.

But then another bucket appeared, hurtling straight towards Kapas's face.

A bucket was already hanging from Kapas's mouth, and he had no way to catch another.

Finally, a flash of understanding came to Kapas, and he figured out what everyone around him was trying to say. With a stroke of inspiration, he set down the buckets from his hands just in time to catch the incoming one before it could smash into his face.

"Why didn't you guys say something sooner?" Kapas glared at the others as he put down all the buckets he was carrying.

"We, we only just thought of it," the Jackal Wolfman said, scratching his head with a look of simple honesty.

Kapas wanted to say more, but there was no chance, as items started flying towards him again.

On the other side, Zhao Guang turned into a porter, grunting as he placed items onto the conveyor belt. The other end of the conveyor belt was set against the Space Gate, allowing the continual transport of goods through it.

Zhao Guang was busy moving items around while keeping an eye on the clock now and then.

Whenever it was about to reach ten minutes, Zhao Guang would sprint over to the Space Gate and jab it forcefully with his finger, essentially winding it up.

The sky gradually darkened. Working until nightfall, Zhao Guang finally threw all the surrounding items through the gateway.

From chili oil at the start to everything afterward – anything they had on their side was tossed through.

Even Zhao Guang didn't know everything that had been thrown through by then. But that was okay; after all, it was all useful stuff, and most of it from his side were just seasonings.

The arrows were far away, which was perfect for clearing out space by throwing these items through.

After all the hustle, Zhao Guang was soaked through several times over. When he finally stopped, he felt dizzy and empty, as if his entire being was drained.

But he couldn't stop there; he had to liquidate the goods as quickly as possible.

After chugging a bottle of mineral water, he took a piece of bread, chewing it while walking over to the other side.

The items on this side had turned into a large pile, and the Beastmen had considerately packed them all into baskets. A look revealed a large group of Beastmen, easily a hundred or more, had gathered.

"Brother, all these folks are ones I called over to help. We sure got a lot of stuff this time."

Zhao Guang stiffly nodded his head, "Yeah, yeah." Being stared at by so many musclebound figures at night was indeed a bit creepy.

It seemed as if the time zones on both sides were the same, with nightfall coming simultaneously. It didn't feel much over there because of the lights, but here with only torches, seeing a dense crowd of Beastmen felt like being surrounded by ghosts.

Come to think of it, this was the first time Zhao Guang was experiencing the night over here. He had seen it through cameras before, but it was too dark to see anything.

"Let's get going, we should move everything back as soon as possible."

"Brothers, let's head back and report to the Clan Leader," Kapas called out loudly.

Everyone shouted in response, excitedly running towards the other side. As for Zhao Guang, he was hoisted up by Kapas once again, even his tricycle was taken away, and his protests were to no avail.

This time facing forward, he felt the rush even more as the wind distorted his mouth.

By the time he arrived at his destination, Zhao Guang's legs were so weak, his eyes were askew, and his mouth was crooked, that one might think he had suffered a stroke.

After vigorously rubbing his face for a long time, Zhao Guang finally began to recover.

"Haha, you must be Brother Zhao Guang, I've finally met you. I've heard of the famous spicy liquor, and today I can finally enjoy it," a lion beastman across shouted at Zhao Guang.

In appearance, he seemed not much different from Kapas, both sporting a lion's head.

The biggest difference, perhaps, was that the beastman across had a higher degree of humanization and conformed more to human aesthetic standards.

"This guy is Osra, the Clan Leader's son; he's here for his training," someone explained.

"I've heard so much about you. I've brought a lot of things today, enough for everyone, right..."

Looking at the people around the fire, Zhao Guang seriously wondered if he had brought enough. Not only were these beastmen tall, but they could also eat and drink a lot.

"It's enough, we've brought enough liquor. Just mix some spicy liquor for these people," they replied.

Zhao Guang was somewhat puzzled, just a mix, wasn't that shortchanging them?

Osra lowered his voice and said softly, "Such good stuff would be wasted on them; most of it will be sent to the Beast King after today. I'm really envious of the Beast King."

Was there also a Beast King? Did these beastmen have a unified and complete government?

If that were the case, it seemed he would have to adjust his strategy towards the beastmen.

The power that a unified nation could wield was far from comparable to that of a mere military camp.

"Hmph, if they don't offer something good this time, they won't get anything from us in the future." Kapas was constantly complaining on behalf of Zhao Guang, and he had started drinking as well.

"Haha, I can finally drink some spicy liquor, and now I'll be able to sleep at night."

If sleep is what they wanted, then let's get these folk drunk to keep them from running towards the humans all the time, making his own business tough. In his heart, Zhao Guang still found dealing with humans more reliable.

"Ptui, ptui, ptui! What is this stuff, it's so disgusting," someone exclaimed.

Zhao Guang turned around and was speechless. He saw a Wild Boar Man with only half a bag of chicken essence, the other half was in the Boar Man's mouth. Swallowing half a bag like that was enough to make one sick, and he had even eaten the packaging.

Despite being almost choked by it, the stubborn fellow refused to spit it out.

What he accidentally spat out he caught with his palm, only to lick it up again.

"I'm seriously unlucky. Why do I have to witness such a scene?" Zhao Guang thought to himself in repulsion.

"Stop, stop, you're not supposed to eat it like that! Let me tell you how to do it."

As soon as Zhao Guang spoke up, Kapas and Osra stood on either side like two door gods, separating everyone else from the scene. Seeing the proud look of these two lions, they seemed quite full of themselves.

You, Lion Clan members, hold high status, don't you? And isn't Osra the Clan Leader's son? Why are you so excited to act as Guards?

"Look, aren't you guys roasting meat and boiling stuff? This is supposed to be mixed in with that. But don't add too much; it already contains salt," Zhao Guang warned them, fearing they would use too much since it contained salt.

Indeed, upon hearing it had salt, these beastmen became extremely cautious when adding the seasoning.
