Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Assassin

Han Mengqi was feeling troubled. Just yesterday, Li Shu had been taught a lesson, and now he was pestering her again. His persistent harassment annoyed her.

She wanted to use Xiao Han to scare Li Shu off, but it didn't work. Li Shu had heard about yesterday's incident from others, and he understood that the skilled individual was actually a shield Han Mengqi had found on the spur of the moment, who had no real relationship with her. Therefore, he acted with brazen impunity, and Li Shu didn't believe that Han Mengqi could be so fortunate every time to encounter that individual.

Just as he was feeling smug, a voice sounded, inducing a sense of déjà vu in Li Shu. A sudden ominous premonition rose in his heart, and he turned around swiftly. Upon seeing a familiar face, Li Shu got a fright and involuntarily took two steps back.

Han Mengqi showed a look of pleasant surprise. She had been bothered, but to her astonishment, heavens had delivered this guy right to her.

"Wife, you finally agreed to see me. You must have missed me, huh?" Xiao Han directly ignored Li Shu, excitedly speaking to Han Mengqi.

His enthusiasm made Han Mengqi's head ache; this guy seemed like an even bigger fly.

"Brother, I know there's nothing between you and Mengqi, so stop putting on this act," Li Shu plucked up the courage, walked up to them, and spoke.

"I can give you any amount of money, but I hope you stay away from Mengqi." After thinking it over, Li Shu added another sentence.

Xiao Han turned around, gave Li Shu a puzzled look, and then scratched his head, asking, "Wife, who is this moron? Do you know him?"

Han Mengqi had a strange expression on her face. Was this guy really pretending? Just yesterday he had knocked this man out, and now he pretended not to recognize Li Shu.

Of course, she was not going to help Li Shu out of this predicament. Han Mengqi shook her head and said, "I don't know him."

Li Shu's face turned an ugly shade as he stood there in embarrassment.

"Oh, so he's a stranger. Keep your distance from my wife. Although I don't like violence, I dislike it even more when male animals get close to my wife." As soon as Xiao Han heard Han Mengqi did not know Li Shu, his demeanor changed instantly, and he spoke fiercely to Li Shu.

Li Shu was slightly taken aback, his face turning even uglier.

"So arrogant. You probably don't know who I am," Li Shu said with a dark look, speaking coldly. "I'm from the Li Family of Tianyang City. If you offend me, you might not live to see tomorrow's sun."

"What is the Tianyang City Li Family?" Xiao Han scratched his head, looking baffled.

Li Shu's face darkened as he rebuked, "Nonsense, the Li Family is not a thing."

"Oh, those were your words, not mine. I never said the Li Family was nothing," Xiao Han said with a grin.

Realizing what he had just blurted out, Li Shu's expression changed and he glared at Xiao Han, darkly asking, "Are you playing me?"

"Thump."

A punch landed on Li Shu's stomach. Li Shu doubled over, his eyes rolling back as he fainted for the second time.

"You know too much." Xiao Han blew on his fist, looking nonchalant as he spoke.

Han Mengqi's expression was peculiar. Xiao Han's words and actions amused her; he never seemed to play by the rules, truly an oddball.

She thought for a moment, stretched out her hand, and proactively reached out to Xiao Han, saying crisply, "Thanks for saving me again. My name is Han Mengqi. And you?"

"Wife, you don't even know my name? I'm so heartbroken. My family name is Lao, and I have a single given name, Gong," Xiao Han made a heartbroken face.

"Lao Gong?" Han Mengqi repeated, frowning.

"Good wife, say it again," Xiao Han instantly revealed a smile, feeling refreshed as if he had eaten Ginsengfruit.

Han Mengqi rolled her eyes at Xiao Han, realizing she had been tricked, and said irritably, "You're the real villain, daring to deceive me, I don't want to bother with you anymore."

Han Mengqi, a bit angry, pouted and walked away.

Xiao Han quickly followed her, and the two of them left the school one after another.

Glancing back with some frustration, Han Mengqi said unhappily, "Why are you following me?" She was a little angry; this guy was just like a sticky candy, impossible to shake off.

Having a Li Shu by her side, she hoped there wouldn't be another bigger fly bothering her. Thinking this, Han Mengqi felt extremely annoyed.

"You're my wife, it's only natural that I protect your safety," Xiao Han said matter-of-factly.

Han Mengqi pursed her sexy red lips and responded disapprovingly, "With that tiny frame of yours, you're fine dealing with Li Shu, but if you really met a master, you wouldn't even withstand a single move from them."

"Are you talking about that 'master'?" Xiao Han pointed at an ordinary-looking young man walking towards them.

When the young man realized Xiao Han was pointing at him, his expression changed, and he reached into his jacket, pulling out a gun directly. However, the gun was not pointed at Xiao Han but at Han Mengqi.

"Ah!"

Han Mengqi screamed, trying to run away.

But at that moment, Xiao Han grabbed Han Mengqi, and with a casual flick of his other hand, a scream was heard. Blood blossomed from the young man's arm, and the handgun immediately dropped to the ground.

Han Mengqi looked at Xiao Han in terror, and the young man turned and ran. He knew he had encountered a master; the thing that had pierced his arm was just a small coin.

"Just stay put," Xiao Han said indifferently as he flicked his hand again, and a coin flew out. The young man stopped in his tracks and then fell straight down.

At that moment, seven or eight people rushed out and surrounded the young man.

Xiao Han wasn't surprised; these people had been secretly following Han Mengqi, but didn't seem to have ill intent—likely her bodyguards. Still, a girl followed by so many bodyguards must have no ordinary status.

Han Mengqi looked at Xiao Han with a trace of shock in her eyes. She had thought she was going to die but hadn't expected that with just a couple of flicks of his wrist, he had subdued an assassin.

His calm and collected demeanor in the face of danger was extremely dashing, giving Han Mengqi a sense of immense security.

Her expression complex, she stared at Xiao Han, wondering what kind of person this human shield she had accidentally encountered really was.

"Miss, are you alright?" a voice jolted Han Mengqi awake.

This was one of her bodyguards, usually hidden in the shadows to protect her. The recent events had scared him considerably. If not for Xiao Han's intervention, Han Mengqi would probably be dead.

If anything had happened to Han Mengqi, their boss wouldn't have let them off the hook.

"I'm fine, don't worry. We owe this gentleman our thanks," Han Mengqi said, glancing at Xiao Han and realizing that she still didn't know his name.

"My name is Xiao Han," Xiao Han finally revealed his name.

The bodyguard looked at Xiao Han with admiration, sincerely thanking him. After assessing the assassin's injury and current condition, he knew that this young man, who appeared to be just a student, was no ordinary person.
