This year's family gathering was still at the Shengdu Hotel.
After a quick tidy up and changing Diudiu into a clean set of clothes, the three of them left the house.
Riding on Song Yuwei's electric scooter, the family of three headed straight for the Shengdu Hotel.
Before leaving the house, Qin Han refused Song Yuwei's suggestion to wear the suit he bought for their wedding, opting instead for a set of sportswear that had been washed until slightly faded.
Qin Han usually liked to wear loose-fitting clothes, and he felt there was no need for a small family gathering. Moreover, if he really wore that suit, he feared it would only bring more ridicule and insult.
Half an hour later, Qin Han and his family arrived at the Shengdu Hotel.
Diudiu hopped off the scooter, looked up at the tall building, and started to count with a pale little finger, "One, two, three..."
"Don't bother counting, there are twenty-four floors!"
"So tall!" Diudiu's eyes filled with awe as she exclaimed, "Daddy, it's so tall!"
Diudiu was still savoring the shock that the tall building gave her when a loud shout made her jump.
"Country bumpkins! Don't you know what place this is? You can't park here, get the hell out," bellowed a voice.
Just after Qin Han and his family got off the scooter, two doormen immediately ran up to them, disdainfully kicking the already old and battered electric vehicle.
"Bang!"
The unexpected noise caused Song Yuwei to frown, and Diudiu in her arms shuddered in fright, burrowing further into Song Yuwei's embrace.
"It's allowed in shopping centers and hospitals, why not here?"
Qin Han's lips twitched in displeasure. He didn't mind the scooter being kicked, but seeing Diudiu scared made him upset.
Upon hearing this, one of the muscular doormen sneered and barked with his teeth bared, "I can't control other places, but here it's not allowed!"
"There's no sign that says no parking for electric scooters; parking here, how does it concern you?"
Qin Han looked frustrated. It seemed that no matter when, people just couldn't stop looking down on others!
"Qin Han, let's just park the scooter over there and stop arguing," Song Yuwei whispered softly, pleadingly suggesting to Qin Han.
She then carefully said to the doormen, "Big brother, we're here for the Song family gathering. We'll move the scooter now."
She was afraid that Qin Han would start a fight as he had in the past. They couldn't afford to pay for someone else's medical bills, and being at the hotel entrance, it would be even more humiliating if family relatives saw them.
Song Yuwei didn't care about herself or Qin Han, but Diudiu was still a child. She didn't want Diudiu to endure all this from such a young age.
Seeing that Qin Han didn't look like he was going to move, the doormen loosened up their limbs and laughed coldly, "Can't understand human language, huh? I'll say it one more time—get lost right now, or I'll beat you so bad you won't leave the hospital for a month!"
"This is too arrogant!" Qin Han frowned deeply, a mere doorman dared to be so unreasonable to guests, a clear sign that the hotel had no shortage of bullying its customers!
"The little lady is quite pretty. If you call me 'good brother,' you can leave your scooter here, hahaha..." one of the doormen said with a lecherous face.
"Guys, isn't this a bit too much? I won't quibble over you seeing us as lesser, but now you're really crossing the line by flirting with my wife," Qin Han said firmly as the doormen harassed Song Yuwei—he couldn't just stand by.
"Who are you calling 'look down upon?' Too much? I'll show you what's really too much, you moron!" The doormen cursed and charged at him with their fists swinging.
"Ah!" Song Yuwei screamed in fright as the two men charged at Qin Han.
Qin Han faced the attacks of the two men without dodging or avoiding them.
Bang!
As the tall doorman threw his punch halfway, Qin Han suddenly lifted his right foot and kicked casually.
The towering doorman was kicked three meters away, clutching his stomach tightly on the ground, struggling nonstop, unable to catch his breath.
Seeing his companion kicked away by Qin Han, the other doorman's eyes widened, swallowed a mouthful of saliva, thinking that the strength required to kick someone away was just too great.
After clearing his meridians last night, Qin Han's physical condition was no longer what it had been before. He hadn't even used his full strength; otherwise, the doorman might actually have been kicked to death.
Qin Han made as if to move forward to deliver a few more kicks, but paused, turning his head back only to find his arm was being tightly gripped by Song Yuwei, who pleaded with a sorrowful face, "Qin Han, I'm begging you! Is that okay...?"
Looking into Song Yuwei's fearful eyes, Qin Han shook his head, took Didi, and with Song Yuwei in tow, they walked into Shengdu Hotel without looking back.
The little one, hugging Qin Han's neck, exclaimed excitedly, "Daddy's so awesome!"
Though the little one didn't like Qin Han getting into fights, she knew those two men had said unpleasant things to her mother. They deserved it!
"What are you standing around for? Go call someone! I don't believe he won't come out!" the tall doorman, clutching his stomach, struggled up from the ground, his face twisted with malice to the extreme.
"Right away, right away!"
The other doorman nodded rapidly and hurried off to summon help.
"Damn it!" The tall doorman, fuming with rage, turned and kicked the electric cart as if to vent his anger. The cart, already old and battered, fell apart with a clatter after a few of his kicks, completely wrecked.
By the time Song Yuwei's family arrived, the private dining hall was already full of people.
In this setting, the three of them, Qin Han and company, were as if invisible, with not a single person willing to engage with them.
Qin Han didn't mind; after all, he was just here for the excitement, and eating his fill later would be better than anything else.
He then held Didi in his arms and pulled Song Yuwei to a table near the corner to sit down. It was just the three of them at the table, which was still relatively quiet for the time being.
The little one's big eyes curiously scanned the room, occasionally lingering on some of the cold dishes already on the tables. Kids will be kids, more interested in food and play.
Song Yuwei clearly disliked this kind of setting, hanging her head low as if afraid of others seeing her family.
But some people just loved to make trouble out of nothing, like Song Yuzhe. He seemed to have a grudge against Qin Han, always mocking him whenever they met.
To make fun of Song Yuwei, as if he couldn't stand the sight of Song Yuwei not humiliated, totally forgetting he should thank Song Yuwei for his current status.
"Wow, isn't this our dear son-in-law of the Song family, Qin Han?" Song Yuzhe approached, deliberately speaking loudly, "Qin Han, the clothes you're wearing, I swear I saw them two years ago, and they only cost twenty yuan, right?"
As soon as the words were out, Qin Han immediately became the center of attention, everyone looking at him as if he were a monkey.
"You probably paid too much; my shirt was nineteen." Qin Han muttered.
"Hahaha!"
A burst of laughter rang out around them, and several girls, initially trying to maintain their composure, couldn't help but laugh.
"Qin Han... don't... don't talk anymore!" Song Yuwei said softly, gripping Didi's little hand.
She felt her face burning with embarrassment. Normally, with her income, her family wouldn't have to live like this, but the money she earned had been squandered by Qin Han, leading to this public humiliation, even her child mocked as a result. If it weren't for the family rule that required all members to attend gatherings, she would have never let Qin Han come!
