*Flashback to Last Night*
"How should we go about increasing everybody's strength?" Jack asked.
Currently, Everette, Ada, Jack and Amelia are discussing the matters of the overall strength of the group.
"How about letting them go out in groups with weapons?" Everette suggested, followed by Ada's head shaking in disagreement.
"That wouldn't work. We currently don't have much information about what sort of monsters are outside."
"I-I got an idea." Amelia softly spoke out.
The rest turned to her with curious gazes. Ada gestured with her hand so she could speak her mind.
"I-I believe Everette's idea could work as long we can protect them while they level up."
"B-but I believe we should ask if they want to fight or not."
Amelia's last point caused Ada's eyebrow to raise. Seeing that, she immediately tried to explain herself.
"W-while I do believe that everyone should contribute to the same cause, I just think it wouldn't be nice to force them into something they don't want to do."
Ada nodded, "Or else they may revolt or something like that."
"Now I got a question, Amelia."
"Y-yes?"
"If the number of people want to contribute, let's say... All of them were to be in the same group. Wouldn't that affect the exp that each individual may gain?"
Amelia gave a thoughtful nod, "That would be true, but I suggest we split them up into four groups."
"Four?" Everette tilted his head. "Wouldn't mean that only one of us has to protect a group of their own. And also, if all of them do want to contribute, that would mean that 100 people have to be protected by 1 of us."
Ada shrugged, "It's not so hard if you're strong enough."
Everette's eye twitched at that.
"That would be true, but I think taking out a quarter at a time should increase the chances of survival and the individual's XP gained."
Ada nodded in satisfaction, "Very well, let's go with this plan."
"One more thing..."
Everyone turned to look at Jack.
"If the people wanting to fight aren't everyone, how can we convince those not wanting to fight?"
Amelia smiled before briefly answering, "They will come to convince themselves on their own. After all, we humans are jealous creatures."
*End Of Flashback*
***
Everette now led a group of 12 people with weapons - mainly knives. It was composed of 8 boys and 4 girls.
They walked down the road and surveyed the area. The building's windows had its windows shattered while the cars that littered the street were either overturned or were on fire.
Everette gave a melancholic sigh, "What a mess."
After a few more moments of wandering down the street, they encountered a group of Infected humans. There were about 6.
Everette wielded Mourn and swiftly sliced through their hamstrings. All six infected fell down one by one.
Everette turned back towards the 12.
"So! Who wants to go first?"
They all seemed hesitant at first before someone held up their hand. It was a guy, probably in his 20s, who held a long sledgehammer.
Everette nodded before gesturing him to come closer.
"What's your name?" Everette asked, although a bit awkwardly.
"It's Jason Smith"
Jason had brown hair, dark brown eyes, an average face and was about 6ft3-ish. What sets him apart from the others is that he is pretty muscular.
Everette nodded and told him to imagine the crawling Infecteds to look like zombies that wanted to eat him.
'Not like I'm wrong.'
Jason gave an appreciative nod before looking down at the Infected. He raised his Sledgehammer before bringing it down.
The hammer connected with the head, and a wet, crushing sound followed. The skull was open to what was left of the brain before being squashed.
Jason brought his hand to his mouth before looking away, almost like we were about to hurl vomit.
Everette, too, gave a grossed-out look when he saw the brain matter but wasn't affected enough that he wanted to throw up.
He gestured for the next person to come.
A guy with short ginger hair, blue eyes, and about 5ft6 came up. He wielded a sharp kitchen knife.
Everette dragged over another.
"And what's your name?"
"It's Liam Lloyd, sir!"
"S-sir!?" Everette stared at him in a bewildered manner.
He nodded and let go of the crawler. It bounced a bit before moving its arm towards Liam.
His hand shook a bit before gathering the courage to stab it into the head.
Everette nodded and sent him back. He called out another.
This time, it was a girl. She had blonde hair with some strands dyed purple and purple eyes. She was about 5ft8. She was holding a long metal rod with a knife taped to the rod's tip.
Everette asked for her name before dragging over another crawler for her to kill.
"Leyla." Everette nodded, and before he could let go of the crawler, Leyla had already thrusted her spear into the Infected's skull. She seemed to have some pent-up anger because she stabbed it a couple of times more.
She then walked back with a detached look. She wiped away some blood that splattered onto her cheek.
Everette's stare lingered on her form before sighing. He repeated this cycle across different parts down south about 3km from the Chapel.
By the end of the day, they were all around level 9.
