The flame-coated bird stared down at the human as it raised its weapon.
It flapped its wings and swiftly dashed towards him.
Seeing that he didn't have enough time to dodge, Jack unhooked his hatchet from his belt and used the flat side to block the charge.
DING!
Its beak made contact with the axe head, which resulted in a sharp, ringing noise.
Jack flew back and crashed through a window into a building.
"Ugh..."
He groaned as he skimmed the inside of the room that he was in before focusing his stare towards the window he crashed through.
Pushing himself up to his feet, he stared through the window thoughtfully.
He could feel a warm liquid running down the back of his head. Reaching behind and bringing it to his face, he saw his hand stained in red.
'How do I win?'
He took a brief look at his health.
[INJURIES: Moderate]
The building then began to shake. Outside, the bird was on the roof stomping on it.
Jack then looked towards his hatchet and saw the flat side was dented. He frowned before shifting it to a smile.
"My winning condition here is to put it out and somehow immobilise it to get a killing hit in."
The roof began to form cracks under the relentless strikes from the flaming bird.
Jack ran outside and continued down the street.
He looked back to see that the building had collapsed, and what rose from its dust cloud was a bird that flew high into the air. It left trails of both small rubble and also embers.
He turned his head forward and continued his sprint. He was looking for ideas on how to win. Jack's eyes then widened when he saw something.
However, he then felt his back begin to feel hotter. Turning his head back, he saw the bird above him.
Twisting his body back around, he raised his bow while simultaneously nocking in an arrow. Just as he was about to release it, the bird dived down and snatched the bow right out of his hands before bashing him away with its head.
Before being sent away again, Jack moved his body slightly to the left.
His body flew backwards at an outstanding speed. His body was covered in burns.
Jack's back collided with a solid, stationary object. His back bent over it as he felt it snap.
"AARGH!" He cried out as the bird floated high above him. It held in its beak his compound bow before snapping it in half. The bird wanted to see the creature it was playing with to lose all hope.
Jack tried to move his legs but couldn't move them. He lost all feeling in his legs.
Jack's eyes then dulled before regaining their light.
"FULL RECOVERY!"
His body filled with vigour. His body was now repaired and devoid of any wounds it had acquired before.
Quickly rising to his feet, he raised his hatchet and hacked towards the solid object.
It was a red cylindrical object with a flat square base - a fire hydrant.
"HAAAA!"
Out of nowhere, his arm was covered by a blue, translucent, almost solid material.
The hatchet struck the fire hydrant, causing it to erupt into a pillar of water that hit the bird out of the sky.
The flames covering it weren't able to shield it from the water.
The bright orange lines that were decorated underneath its feathers dimmed, and its feathers began to stick together.
It plummeted to the ground and tried to shake off the water on its wings. From its constant shaking, the feather that was adorned on its wings began to break off little, some kind of brittle stone.
"Those embers you leave behind..."
It looked towards the despicable human that brought it to this state.
"They're really just small bits of your feathers, right?"
A toothy sinister grin spread across his face as he approached the bird with his dented hatchet.
"Earlier, when you launched me, I moved my body just slightly to the left—"
The bird flapped its wings, but that only caused more of its feathers to shed off and break.
"That charge of yours launched my body just far enough for me to reach my winning condition... The fire hydrant."
Jack stood before the bird and raised his hatchet. The bird fell back as it began to fear the human standing before it. It could feel the cold breath of death breathing down its neck.
"That bow that you broke... That was a gift from my girlfriend..."
The large grin Jack wore faltered and was replaced with an expressionless face. Although it doesn't show, his eyes showed how enraged he was.
His arm tensed in anger before bringing it down onto the head of the robin, specifically the dented part of its head.
The robin's life began flashing before its eyes until it remembered the fire that caused its charred appearance.
{"Ding! Level 15 Mutated Embering Bird killed!"}
[ Level 11 - > 14 ]
The adrenaline running through Jack wore off. He sat beside it before noticing an unfamiliar golden glow in his peripheral vision.
Turning to the bird's corpse, Eden appeared before him.
{"Ding! [Genetic Nexus] detected! Would you like to store it? [YES] or [NO]"}
"Hahahaha...HAHAHAHA!"
Jack rested his back on the floor while laughing like a madman. His laughter then began to die down before looking over to a random building.
"So Everette! How was the show?"
Everette came out from the building and walked over to him. He stood over Jack and looked down at him with a soft smile.
The water from the fire hydrant subsided and what was left was a small rainbow behind Everette. He raised his hand and shaped it into a thumbs up.
"I give it a 100 out of 10."
