Chereads / Host of the Abyssal system / Chapter 10 - Test of endurance

Chapter 10 - Test of endurance

"I wonder what the test of endurance means" Dreama muttered to himself.

He managed to get in while the elders were bickering at each other and was able to blend in without being noticed.

"Good thing that guard was kind enough to give me this space ring" he mused at his own his own misunderstanding, slightly chuckling to himself.

Soon the ground below them began to rise into the air. At first the air was normal as it could be but after rising to the third hight the air began to thin out. Some kids with a very poor physique fainted right on spot and had to be transported out of the platform. The parents of those kids were clearly disappointed.

Dreama simply snorted.

"This much should not make them faint"

The platform raised to the next level doubling in pressure.

Dreama hardly felt the pressure he had the time to observe the other kids and noticed one that stood apart from the rest. He couldn't understand why but he felt a certain connection that kid like he was his arm extension.

He simply shrugged it off and continued to observe the other kids.

The platform raised to the next level increasing in pressure, bringing some kids on their knee. The pressure felt like lifting a boulder on the back.

Dreama began to feel the pressure too but it was not to the point of his knees buckling.

"hey Liam do you really thing you can be any better than the rest of your family?" a kid named kas asked with a mocking face.

"give in to the pressure already and become an outer disciple, stop holding on so tight after all we all knows what will eventually happen" he grinned foolishly.

Some stupid kids laughed and ended up passing out ending their participation.

"Tch kids these days, so naive and easily moved" the sky master commented.

"That Tiam kid has a cold head on his shoulder"

They all nodded in support.

"Something tells me that purple head kid is just going to give us the surprise of a life time, although unknown he managed to keep up with the talented kids and even does it effortlessly.

They all nodded in approval, as they thought so too but didn't mention it.

The platform rose until it got to the fifth level making all but Liam, Kash and Dreama.

The other kids knees caved in under pressure, some tried to withstand it but they were forced on their knee. Some began to bleed from their eyes, ears and nose. They were transported out of the platform covered with a glow which healed them.

"who do you think will be last standing" some one from the crowd asked.

"who else do you think its gonna be Kash his father the third master from the bua family has been specifically training him for this day, so there's no way the other can beat him"

"yea I don't know why that Liam is still putting on a pretence"

"He should give up quickly before he destroys his body"

"Lady Yun you should advice your son to quit quickly of he'll become vegetable"

"Yea no one wants their son to be vegetable, so don't be so greedy and heartless"

"he can still be an outer disciple"

"thank you all for your heart felt concern but I believe my son still has not reached his limit" after saying all that she ignored them all and concentrated on he son's performance.

Back on the platform

"You're still trying to keep up with me trash" he said with some difficulty.

"Just what is this kids problem he's clearly finding it difficult to hold his ground but yet he's wasting his energy on mediocre things" Dreama thought to himself with an amused look on his face.

Suddenly without the platform raising the pressure suddenly increased.

"what the hell do you intend to crush them" asked the sky master.

"am just trying to know their limit I used a quarter of my power then but now am applying half, don't worry as soon as they can't hold on I'll remove the pressure"

"Tch and you all say am the heartless one I guess the eclipse grandmaster is even more of a devil than I am" she clicks her tongue and shake her head as if disappointed that she lost her position as the devil.

She stared defiantly at him as if wanting to get back her title.

The eclipse master quickly adverted his gaze trying to avoid her wrath.

"Liam don't think I'll give up before you. The likes of you and your family are trash, so don't go thinking you'll be any different from your loser brother. Your family has exhausted all their fortune on your bitch sister. Honestly things could have been different if she had been given as a play thing to the ministers at least shell have survived longer to satisfy their amusements" he smirked.

Liam gritted his teeth and clenched his fists but he couldn't afford to lose focus, his family are counting on him and he wouldn't allow himself to be swayed.

He manages to calm his unsteady mind and sat in a meditative pose.

Kash clicked his tongue in irritation, he was almost at his limit. He had tried to force liam to concede so at least both of them will lose.

He cant bare to face his father by disgracing himself, he has to hold on he can't lose that peasant.

"This idiot is going to burn himself up just to beat his rival" dreama thought.

[technically host is also the same as him]

[host is only here to gain systems reward]

"You didn't add the death penalty to why am doing this"

[host should not be hypocritical]

"When will I finally learn I can't win against you in the game of words"

[host statement is correct this time around. Host can never win against the system]

"but still why do I feel a connection to this kid like I found long lost….." Dreama suddenly blanked out.

Different images began to appear before him in rapid succession. In his trance state his body began to on the surrounding gravity tossing out Liam and Kash out of the platform but luckily they were easily saved by the sky grandmaster.

"see I told you guys that he's gonna benefit from this, my intuition is always on spot" the eclipse master smiled widely feeling a rush of excitement.

'This level of comprehension is beyond his own ability, if he could meditate under this enlightenment, he's sure to get a break through' he had on a serious look.

"I understand this is all very beneficial to you, but get your old bones working and get everyone out of here" she yelled at him with a furious eyes that said there was not room for a no otherwise he's dead.

The eclipse master fidget at her stare he of all people knows how scarry she could get when angry.

"On it" he quickly said.

He felt a tap on his shoulder.

"Welcome to the hated club" the sky master laughed.

In Dreama's vision he stood in a very dark void. There was no life, no air, no sky only emptiness and his floating consciousness.

"What is this place why does it feel so lonely, so empty"

"What is emptiness where is the gravity, who am I, where do I come from"

"Wm I dead, what is death anyway"

"I... I don't exist"

His memories began to fade away rapidly replaced by void, he floated aimlessly for billions of year, he had forgotten what it meant to be alive, to breath and to feel.

A tiny speck of light began to flicker on and off catching his attention. He moved towards it feeling a sense of completeness just staring at it.
