Chapter 12 - The Most Stressful Tea Ever.

Zhang Jian was very, very, very confused. They sat in a room very high up, the entire city could be seen from her balcony. Ling Tianshu The S Grade sat across him, leisurely asking away questions and drinking her tea. Ling Tianshu lived in a big multi-floor house, two other buildings outside flanked a courtyard, this place was massive.

The calm blue sky, the gentle spring breeze, from this height the festival in the streets couldn't be heard and the extremely expensive tea all came together to ease Zhang Jian's headache. Finally "Ah screw it" came to the forefront of his mind.

"I am an F grade, that's why I got rejected from the school. Are you sure someone of your status should be talking to me?" He interrupted one of her questions, he took her by surprise. "Well uhh, I see no problem with it?" she said with a slightly shaky voice.

"As for the schooling, I'm sure there's some strings I can pull, or maybe I can have you as my personal assistant." She said while day dreaming, Zhang Jian thought he had gotten a grasp on her personality but she was just a bit too confusing for his guesses.

Zhang Jian thought about his situation at that moment, the more he thought about it the more he didn't want to think about it. "Ill uh think about it. I need to uhh consider all my options first."

Ling Tianshu pouted "Why?" She put down her cup on the small table between them. Ling Tianshu stretched out her hand and touched the base of his neck. "What are you-" Zhang Jian suddenly and without warning, felt his Spirit.

The very thing that kept this world different from Earth. He could feel its very essence, not just the energy that coursed through him battle the Essence itself. If the Spirit Energy was the blood then the essence was the heart, and Zhang Jian felt the heartbeat for the first time.

It was vibrating and resonating heavily, he could feel Ling Tianshu's Spirit as well. Their Spirits resonated at the same frequency, like ripples in water. It wasn't something Zhang Jian understood, just something he felt.

"What the hell was that?" He fell out of the cross legged position out of shock. "That, was our spirits, this is what I feel whenever your nearby. Even when I was in that carriage." She sat back again, grinning proudly. "Well what does it mean?"

Just as she was about to take a sip of tea, she paused awkwardly. "I uhh, I don't know yet." Zhang Jian stared at her, trying to figure what the deal with this S grade was. He concluded that maybe S Grades get special powers from the get-go and this was just one of those abilities.

Zhang Jian started laughing a tiny bit, he was leaned back on his elbows. "I see how it is!" Zhang Jian continued to laugh, sort of freaking out Ling Tianshu, she sort of started to laugh as well.

The two of them continued laughing, louder and louder, Zhang Jian clutched his stomach, Ling Tianshu wiped tears of laughter from her eyes. "What are we laughing about?" She asked as she was calming down, "nothing, nothing, I made the wrongly assumption that you were a spoilt brat. My deepest apologies." Zhang Jian said while fixing himself into a proper seating posture, "Hey! I am not spoilt!" Ling Tianshu frowned and the two kept bantering. Time passed and the evening arrived.

As the sun came into view from the open balcony door, the two were reminded that "Zhang Jian is without a school"

Zhang Jian got up from the floor and bowed "well its been fun, but I have to find a place to sleep for the night."

Ling Tianshu got up in a hurry as to stop Zhang Jian from leaving "We have a few spare rooms, you can stay here for the night." She blurted out before he left the room, stopping him in his tracks.

Now Zhang Jian was wary of the situation, there is no such thing as a free lunch after all. But Zhang Jian isn't so stupid as to decline offers with no catch.

He turned around to face Ling Tianshu, his eyes gleaming. "Really? you'd do that for me??" Zhang Jian's expression reminded Ling Tianshu of a dog receiving treats.

...

A cold room with no windows or balcony, "quite fitting for an F Grade" as the servants saw it. Zhang Jian had to keep the door open for air-flow "who designed this room?" he muttered to himself in the middle of the night, unable to sleep.

After a few moments of silent unease, a few bouts of rolling around. Zhang Jian got up, needing to get some fresh air he walked out of his room into the open hallway. Moonlight had only lit up small fractions of the hallway, leaving the rest shrouded in darkness.

Slouched over and droopy, Zhang Jian trudged through the halls, looking for a room with a window, balcony or just something to breath actual air from.

He as walked through the halls, he opened each door one by one to find any place with an open window. Zhang Jian's mind was in a mess, a long and tiring day coupled with the need for sleep, made it hard to distinguish anything in the dark and muddled his thoughts.

As Zhang Jian opened doors, he passed by an open one. Curious as to why the room was open, he peeked through the doorway, only to witness a crime about to happen.

It was Ling Tianshu's room!

She slept soundly, a window by her bedside. The entire room was decked out in lavish rich people stuff, the most eye-catching detail however, was the maid that was going to kill Ling Tianshu in her sleep!

"What are you doing?" Zhang Jian rubbed his eyes to see better, the servant was a short girl around his age, with black hair tied in a pony tail. A hairpin in her hand, right at the sleeping Ling Tianshu's neck.

Out of shock and reflex, the servant turned around and launched the hairpin at Zhang Jian's forehead.

it missed and hit the doorway at a point right next to his head, the sleepy Zhang Jian looked at the hairpin, which was now stuck in the timber doorway. "Nice shot dumbas-" Kicked in the abdomen, Zhang Jian fell back into the floor of the hallway on his back.

The Servant girl plucked the hairpin from the doorway and quickly grabbed Zhang Jian by the collar of his robes, she attempted to stab him in the neck. More awake now, he grabbed her wrists and prevented her from reaching his neck.

Zhang Jian managed to knock the hairpin out of her hands, but it didnt stop her from punching him. Zhang Jian ignited an orange Spirit energy from his right hand and returned a blow to her jaw. The two were practically squabbling on the floor.

She ignited her Spirit energy, a bright blue flame from both of her hands. Zhang Jian felt himself being grabbed by the collar and launched through the air, passing the sleeping Ling Tianshu without waking her up.

Before he knew it, Zhang Jian has been thrown out a window from very, very high up.
