Chapter 3 - Chapter 003: Despair

In the principal's office, Xue Hao's mother sat on the sofa, geared up to make accusations.

The vice principal and the head of student affairs were both there, cautiously apologizing.

"What is going on here? I've waited all day without an explanation. Was our son just beaten for nothing? And in that area, no less! What if there are future complications? Who will take responsibility then!" Mrs. Xue pointed accusingly, her demeanor domineering.

Seeing Song Anjiu enter, her anger did not abate one bit, "Look at her! Does she even look like a student? To think you would keep such a person at school! Isn't your school too irresponsible?"

After speaking, she turned towards her, "I seriously wonder how your parents raised you!"

It was clear the school had contacted her family immediately, but since no one was willing to come forward, they had no choice but to call her in to bear the brunt of the angry parent.

The head of student affairs asked awkwardly, "Then... How would you like us to handle this?"

The situation was indeed a headache for him, caught between two parties he did not want to provoke. But since Song Anjiu's parents were uninvolved, he naturally leaned towards the Xue family.

Mrs. Xue looked at her as if she had seen something disgusting, "I heard she wants to repeat a year? Although our Haohao did well and will definitely get into a key school, we will no longer need to deal with such people. But we absolutely cannot let this person harm more children!"

"Yes, yes, we understand. Even if Mrs. Xue hadn't spoken, we planned to handle it this way. According to school regulations, we will expel her. There's no doubt about this, you can be assured!"

Song Anjiu's lips trembled, her face pale.

Mrs. Xue's expression softened slightly, "And then there are the medical fees, nutrition fees, emotional distress damages... These have to be paid, right? Most importantly, I want her parents to bring her to our door personally to apologize! Otherwise, we'll see each other in court, where she will face criminal charges, and it must be a heavy punishment! If I'm not mistaken, this girl is already an adult, correct? Ha, after repeating two years, she surely is!"

Everyone in City A knows that the Xue family and the Song family are business rivals on the commercial battlefield; given such an opportunity, how could they not use it to vex the other side thoroughly.

"This…" The vice principal wiped his sweat awkwardly, "You know the situation with the Song family. We can't do anything about it. When we call them, they just say that Song Anjiu's issues are no longer their concern. Besides, this child is quite pitiable..."

No longer their concern, huh?

Song Anjiu's eyes were like the depths of a still, lifeless lake.

"She's pitiable? Are we supposed to pity her instead of our child who was beaten? And what do you mean you can't do anything? The incident happened at school; it's your responsibility to contact the other parent and solve the problem! Are you trying to shirk your responsibilities?"

"That scumbag..." Lowly, Song Anjiu hissed from between her lips, "He got what he deserved, I should have kicked him harder, crippling his vital parts to end the Xue family line…"

One word at a time, distinctly clear, thoroughly igniting Mrs. Xue's rage.

"You little bitch, what did you say…" Mrs. Xue, in a fury, raised her hand.

But, that hand never came down.

The first thing that was seen was an exquisitely tailored cuff, followed by a strong hand that firmly grasped Mrs. Xue's wrist.

Then came the man, his face like a blade forged against the light, dangerous glints in his eyes, his expression as cold as ice.

He stood behind her, his large palm landed on her dowdy yellow hair and ruffled it as if handling a rare treasure, "Sorry, I'm late."

She hadn't remembered the taste of tears for a long time, but at that moment, she felt the sting in her eyes.
