Lin Xilin leaned back on the sofa when she suddenly heard the sound of high heels tapping closer down the hallway.
Before long, the door to the ward opened, and she turned her head to find Zhao Xinyan standing at the doorway, carrying two fruit baskets.
"Mom? Why are you here at this time?"
It was deep into the night, and aside from the on-duty doctors and nurses, visiting family members had already gone home. The only reason Lin Xilin could still be there was because Lu Zuo was a doctor, which allowed Lin Zhi's visitors to enjoy privileges that others could not.
"You always tell me to come and take a look~" Zhao Xinyan glanced at the bed, where Lin Zhi lately had been suffering long periods of pain, necessitating medication for relief. To ease his physical and mental discomfort, he occasionally used a moderate amount of sedatives.
"Old Lin, Old Lin," Zhao Xinyan tried to wake him up, but, seeing no response, she stopped.
