"The patient urgently needs a blood transfusion. Does anyone here have Rh-negative AB type blood?"
"The patient urgently needs a blood transfusion. Does anyone here have Rh-negative AB type blood?" A doctor walked out of the emergency room and asked solemnly.
Xia Lu felt as if she had been struck by a thunderbolt. Luo Fan's blood type was very rare, and even large hospitals' blood banks often ran out of it, let alone the only hospital on a vacation island.
At this point, she was completely panic-stricken.
"Doctor, please, save him! We've only just gotten married..." Xia Lu begged desperately, but the doctor turned and went back in.
"Ask everyone currently in the hospital, including those with minor injuries, to try to find someone with Rh-negative AB type blood to donate." He instructed the nurse standing to the side.
"Okay." The nurse walked out of the emergency ward, saw Xia Lu still squatting at the door, a position she had maintained since she entered the hospital, nearly two hours ago.
"You should get up. The rescue is still ongoing, and we won't give up," she patted Xia Lu on the shoulder, attempting to comfort her, not expecting that Xia Lu would start crying even harder.
"Wh-wh-wh... please save him... we're here on our honeymoon... wh-wh-wh... we've only just gotten married..."
The nurse helped her to a seat and said to the people around, "Does anyone here have Rh-negative AB type blood? We have a critically ill patient who urgently needs a blood transfusion. If anyone has this blood type, please contact me immediately. Thank you."
Her voice was loud, and the corridor was crowded with people, but no one responded.
Xia Lu raised her head, her eyes brimming with tears, and looked at the nurse, "What if... what if there's no blood available?"
The nurse shook her head, "Your husband has lost a lot of blood. If there's no blood, there's nothing we can do."
"Wh-wh-wh..." She broke down into sobs again.
It was their third day on the island for their honeymoon, and the seventh day since they got married.
Everything was fine when they went out to sea in the morning. But somehow, a hurricane suddenly arose in the afternoon, and the pleasure boat they were on capsized from the massive waves. Luo Fan, trying to protect Xia Lu sitting next to him, shielded her with his body from the violent impacts. By the time they were rescued, he was already unconscious.
The hospital corridor was now full of patients with minor injuries who had been bandaged and were being observed. No one had died because everyone had been wearing life jackets at the time of the accident. The only severely injured patient was Luo Fan, who would have been safe if he hadn't been protecting her.
Thinking this, Xia Lu cried even harder.
"Doctor, another batch of injured has arrived outside, come take a look quickly!" A duty officer at the doorway rushed in. The ordinarily peaceful hospital was now completely overwhelmed, and the injured were still arriving non-stop.
Xia Lu curled up in her seat, her head buried in her knees. At this moment, she could do nothing but silently pray.

"President Zhou, you really should get your wound bandaged. It will be troublesome if it gets infected," Qiu Cheng pleaded with Zhou Mingchen beside him, "There are a lot of germs in this seawater."
When the big wave hit, the two were sitting on the deck of a private yacht. Qiu Cheng was seated inside and was relatively unharmed, but Zhou Mingchen's arm had been slashed open with a cut almost ten centimeters long, though fortunately, it was not deep and he had not lost much blood.
"It's just a scratch, it's not a big deal. It would be better if it killed me," Zhou Mingchen declared with righteous indignation.
"Mr. Zhou, if anything happens to you, how can I explain it to Madam when I get back? Could you do it for my sake, if nothing else? Or do you want to replace your secretary? Maybe I should just resign proactively because there's no way I can explain this to Madam. When the time comes, I'm sure to be fired, so I might as well quit myself." Qiu Cheng lowered his head, "I am not fit to be your assistant. You should find someone else quickly."
Zhou Mingchen glanced at him. This man had grabbed his Achilles' heel, knowing he was so used to having him around that no one else would compare, "Fine, I'll get it bandaged, save your breath."
Seeing him finally agree to go to the hospital, Qiu Cheng showed a victorious smile.
"Trying to compete with me, huh~ You're still too green~" he silently hummed to himself.
Watching the needle pierce through his skin, Zhou Mingchen didn't even furrow his brow. Compared to the heartache he'd been feeling these past few days, this physical pain was nothing, child's play really.
"How come you're not in pain? Could it be a problem with your pain nerves?" the doctor frowned, puzzled. He had seen many who could endure pain, and quite a few who went through stitching without anesthesia, but someone like Zhou Mingchen, who didn't even blink an eye, was rare.
"Hmm, it doesn't hurt." In fact, he truly wished his pain nerves were damaged, so at least he wouldn't be feeling heartache right now.
Three days ago, Lin Xilin had just announced her engagement, "Achen, I'm getting engaged. Wish me happiness." Her tone was calm, but it instantly plunged Zhou Mingchen into endless darkness. She must have known; he had loved her for a full ten years. Ten years! A daughter-in-law almost becomes a mother-in-law in that time, and yet he hadn't won his beloved, ending up with this outcome instead.
Zhou Mingchen closed his eyes, and Lin Xilin's radiant smile immediately came to mind. He didn't know how long this feeling would torment him.
"Mr. Zhou, why don't we go out to ease our minds?"
It was Qiu Cheng who first suggested going out for some fun. Zhou Mingchen wasn't keen on the idea; he was steeped in pain, so what joy would there be in playing? But he wanted even less to attend Lin Xilin's engagement ceremony, so going out seemed like the best option.
He hadn't expected this to happen.
Nobody did.
"Is there a patient with Rh-negative AB-type blood? We have a critically ill patient here who urgently needs a blood transfusion. If anyone has this blood type, please contact me immediately, thank you." The nurse outside called out twice more, still no response.
Zhou Mingchen opened his eyes and looked at Qiu Cheng, "What are they shouting about outside? It's so noisy."
"Oh, it seems they're looking for Rh-negative AB-type blood..." He suddenly realized, "Eh? Mr. Zhou, aren't you Rh-negative AB-type blood?"
Zhou Mingchen glanced at him, "So what?"
"The nurse outside seems to be looking for someone like that, saying there's an injured person who needs a blood transfusion. Panda Blood, you know, saving one life is more meritorious than building a seven-floor pagoda. It's such a good opportunity, Mr. Zhou, don't you want to consider it?"
Zhou Mingchen didn't say a word. Altruism? That had never been a part of his life's twenty-eight years.
"I'm not interested," he said coldly.
Qiu Cheng could only shut up and watch the doctor continue to dress his wounds.
"Don't get it wet after you go back, and don't go out to sea for a while. If you feel uncomfortable, come to the hospital immediately," the doctor was writing a prescription and said, "Also, change the dressing on time after you go back, and be careful when you sleep, don't press on it."
"Got it, I'll remember," Qiu Cheng nodded repeatedly on the side, while Zhou Mingchen was already impatiently walking towards the door.
The hospital in this tropical region was so stingy with the air conditioning that the humid and hot air, combined with the injured patients crowding outside, made him irritable. He just wanted to go back and rest as soon as possible.
