As he entered the lab, Aiden's bored eyes glanced around carelessly, already feeling impatient. He searched for his father, eager to grab whatever he needed and return to his game.
He hoped his teammates wouldn't mess up too badly - his leaderboard rank was at stake. As he moved, his mind shifted through strategies for the next challenge.
He stopped when he saw his father hunched over some tubes.
"Dad!" He called, stepping forward.
But he was met with silence, and a frown immediately marred his face. "Why is it that whenever I want a quick answer, Dad is lost in one of his research moments, forgetting the outside world?"
He wanted to shake him awake, but the memory of the last scolding kept him in check.
Ever since Mum died, his father had married himself to work. Still, at least he didn't ignore me, even if his love was harsh, Aiden still loves his old man, though. He shook off the mushy thoughts.
