The idea the girls had was a good one but unfortunately, the cultivation was not so simple otherwise there would be powerful cultivators everywhere.
Paul still prized them for their initiative and unconventional way of thinking.
Mia and Maya were disappointed that their idea didn't work but getting praised by their master made them happy.
What Paul didn't tell them was that they were not the first ones who wanted to try this method.
In his past life, his stepsister proposed the same thing and it ended up costing him a week to remove all the impurities that his stepsiblings left after the failed attempt.
After the meal, both girls also decided to cultivate since they didn't want to be left behind more than they already were.
With the help of the spirit boar's meat which provided all of them with some Qi Paul managed to cultivate to level 40 while both girls reached level twenty in Qi cultivation before they called it a day and prepared to go to sleep.
Paul decided to stay a little longer and got his mana also to level 40 within an hour since he was already close to advancing before the supper.
Mia and Maya were waiting for him in bed when he arrived so he joined them as soon as he was ready to sleep.
Both girls hugged him and made themselves comfortable in his arms.
They loved the sense of security this gave them and also Paul was a very comfortable pillow.
Paul on the other hand liked to have two beautiful women in his arms and if it was up to him then he would never allow them to leave his embrace.
The girls also wanted nothing more than to stay like this forever.
However, both sides had no experience with love and kept their desires to themselves.
Just as they were starting to fall asleep there was a knock on the door that woke them up again.
-Young master, the neighbor's residence is on fire.
Came the voice of a maid from the other side of the door.
-I will be right there.
Paul said getting out of bed and putting on his combat gear.
-You two also arm yourselves we don't know what is going on and I don't want to take any risks.
Both girls nodded and left for their rooms to get ready.
Paul wasn't planning on bringing them with him but it was better if they were armed just in case of something unforeseen.
Once he left the main house he saw the guards waiting for him.
-Young master your orders.
All three of them said at the same time.
-Stay here and protect this place, I will go see what is going on over there.
Paul said looking at the flames that were raging in the mansion occupied by the Qi family.
-Yes, young master.
The guards said and took their positions to protect the main house if someone tried to attack.
Seeing this Paul didn't waste any time and hurried over to see if he could help or if there even was someone from the Qi family left alive.
The residence had the same layout as the one he was renting but all the buildings were on fire now and this could not have been a coincidence.
Once he entered the opened gate he saw two bodies on the ground belonging to the guards of the Qi family who came to his residence just the day before.
Both of them had their throat slit and there were no signs of fighting which meant that they were taken by surprise.
Paul ignored the dead and focused on locating the living if there even was someone left alive in this place.
He did not use the search magic because if the attackers were still here then they would most likely detect it.
Instead, he went around the place searching for any signs of the Qi family.
What he found in the back of the main building was not something he wished for as both Qi Jun and Qi Mo were lying in the pools of their blood while still holding their swords in their hands.
It was evident that they tried to fight and lost but they had taken at least three attackers with them as Paul saw the bodies and blood traces on the Father and Son's swords.
But he could not find any trace of Qi Yue, Qi Lan, or Qi Xiao anywhere, and that puzzled him since the shadow blades never took people alive.
He was about to continue the search but heard voices in the distance and decided to listen in.
-We still haven't found any trace of them.
A man in black reported to another one who was his superior.
-No matter even if they escaped there is nothing they can do.
The superior said.
-Will the client not want them dead?
-There is no need to chase two women and a child who can't do anything and even if they could, they don't know who did this to them so there is nothing to worry about.
The superior said.
-Also, we don't work for free.
The contract specified that we had to kill all the male members of the Qi family and we did.
There is not a word in there about chasing women and children.
The superior said with a bored tone.
-Now get the bodies of our men and let's get out of here before someone comes to look for them.
-I'm on it.
But didn't they visit the guy living in the next residence?
-They did so what?
He is not a target and like I already said we don't work for free, now stop yapping and get to work.
The superior barked irritated.
The underling ran off to fulfill his orders.
-As for you, the one hiding in the shadows.
The superior said a moment later looking directly at Paul.
-Leave this place, the Qi family is dead and as for their women, if you find them then tell them that we won't come after them.
Like I said to that idiot, We don't work for free.
Now scram.
The superior said and left.
Paul was shocked, not only was he discovered but they let him go to be a messenger.
He decided not to push his luck as these were not the people that he was expecting to find here and left.
Even if he wanted to fight he was no match for that man who was at the Blood-refinement stage already and he was thankful that the man didn't just kill him on the spot.
Paul felt sorry for the Qi family since they were nice people but he already did what he could for them and almost lost his life in doing so.
He returned to his mansion climbing over the wall to avoid the gate as there were a lot of people there already and some of them even tried to put out the fire with buckets of water.
However, there was no way to save the buildings or the people as the mansion was made of wood and the people were most likely dead before the fire even started.
One thing was clear, whoever the Qi family offended, it was not a simple matter.
When Paul was passing by the swing he heard a quiet voice he recognized.
-Big brother, help…
