Chapter 38 - Chapter 38 White Falls auction house.

During all this commotion with buying the mansion and getting new slaves, Paul did not forget about the three unconscious people residing in his house.

Unfortunately, all three ladies slipped into a coma and nothing he did got so much as a reaction from them.

The only good news was that there was no risk of them dying of hunger or dehydration anymore.

Once Paul reached level 50 his life element magic could be used to nourish their bodies but it required him to cast the spell at least once every two days which hindered some of his plans.

He planned to go out with Mia and Maya to hunt some beasts and gather some herbs for money and experience.

He still had a lot of money left but if he didn't start earning and only spent then it would run out sooner or later and the last thing he wanted was to run out of funds when he needed them the most.

He planned to learn alchemy to solve this problem but for that, he had to be at least in the Lesser mage stage of mana cultivation.

Since hunting was out of the question then they trained their skills with the guards who also liked this idea since it helped them stay in shape.

As for the money, Paul decided to risk a bit and sell one of the carrots at an auction and also get rid of the prey he got from the spatial devices.

The prey was easy to sell as many shops would buy them but the carrot was a whole different thing as many people would want to have it and everyone who knew what it was also knew that they always were found in groups of at least three.

Mia and Maya wanted to accompany him but he refused.

-Why can't we come with you?

Maya asked.

-Because both of you get a lot of attention outside and I want to be discreet about this whole thing.

Paul answered putting on his full combat gear along with the helmet that had a mask covering his face.

Such outfits were not anything new in the town as most mercenaries had similar armor so he would not stand out wearing it, added with a hooded cape he would be able to hide his identity from most people.

-Then why don't we also put our combat gear and capes?

Mia tried to argue.

-That won't work since your skin is green, the moment someone sees us in the town later they would figure out who we are.

Paul shot down the idea.

The girls were getting frustrated since they could not win this argument no matter what they tried.

-Once I'm back from this errand, I will take you to town ok?

He tried to pacify them with this promise.

-You better keep your word or I will make you pay for it.

Mia said accepting the compromise.

-You know that I keep my promises so before I come back you two better get ready to go out.

Paul said, knowing full well that these two would need a lot of time to get ready.

-Don't worry about it, we can get ready quite fast.

Maya said with a happy smile that they would go out again but this time it was more like a date.

-Yeah and pigs can fly.

Paul thought but stopped himself from saying it out loud.

-I'm off.

He said instead and left before they figured out a way to convince him to take them with him.

Just like he predicted there were many people dressed similarly to him and no one cared about it.

He first visited a few shops selling the prey and the skins that he had earning him a decent amount of money in the form of 120 gold coins for them all.

He could have gotten more but he kept the meat of the blood rabbits and some other beasts for himself and the girls.

When that was done he entered an auction house.

-I want to place an ingredient for an auction.

He said to the girl at the reception desk.

-The item has to be appraised and only then will it be decided if it will be sold in our auction house.

She said without any interest in whatever the man before her wanted to sell.

-Then bring an appraiser and arrange for a private room for an apraisal.

I don't want to show the Item in a public place.

Hearing his words, she started to get interested as this meant that the item was most likely rare or valuable.

-Please follow me.

She said with a much more pleasant tone.

Paul was brought to a private room on the first floor of the auction house.

-Please sit down, can I offer you some tea while you wait for an appraiser?

She asked politely.

-Thank you, but I'm not thirsty.

He refused politely and she got the message that he would not reveal his face.

-Then please wait a moment our appraiser will be with you momentarily.

She said and left the room.

A few moments later an old man with gray hair and beard walked in.

-Welcome young man, My name is Bai Wei and I'm an appraiser at the White Falls auction house so please show me the item you wish to sell.

The old man introduced himself and went straight to the point.

Paul took out the Mana carrot from his spatial device.

-Is th.. this a m..mana Carrot?

The old man was so shocked he started to stutter.

-Indeed it is a mana carrot and I was asked to put it on the auction.

Paul confirmed.

After these words, the old man figured out that the young man was just a mercenary hired as a middleman by the owner of this ingredient.

-Can I take a closer look?

Bai Wei asked.

He was excited about this as mana carrots were a rare ingredient that could not be farmed and only found in the wilderness.

It has been at least two decades since he last saw one.

-Be my guest, but I would like to know if it will be auctioned here or do I need to go elsewhere.

Paul was playing the part of a mercenary now and the old man never even suspected that he was the owner of this carrot.

-We will auction it as the main Item, The auction will be held a week from now, is that to your client's satisfaction?

-It should be alright, My client told me to sell it within two weeks so I don't think he will complain.

-Then let's sign the contract right away.

Bai Wei said and took out a ready-made contract with a few blank spots to fill in the details.

-Our auction house usually takes a 5 percent provision but since this is a special case we will reduce it to 1 percent.

The old man said and was still smiling because even 1 percent would be an astronomical sum of money and what was even more important than money was the prestige of selling such a valuable item which would boost their reputation to new heights.

-Agreed.

That was the only thing Paul said as he already knew why the old man was so happy and he didn't care about any of that.

He only wanted to get the money and remain unrecognized.
